Thank you, all! Yes, DM, she is a little long in the back and weak in the loin/hind end, but i am hoping to get her stronger. I think her neck ties in low, Aerial, so that may be what you are seeing. Kooki, thanks! I did crouch to take the pic as someone told me that is how to take "proper" confo. shots! I think it makes her look longer and more narrow than she is.
We moved your thread here to Off Course, per our PM discussion, for more input from multiple disciplines...and giving it a little bump with this post. If you want to try it elsewhere later, just give a holler.
She's free and sound! obviously well cared for and nice feet.
Neck is coming out of chest low but offset by being nice out of withers. Plus a tad long is better than short n fat. Its no pencil neck or upside down ewe
I bet she has a great canter . Enjoy her.
up-at-5- she is actually an easy keeper! I have her on Omega Horseshine and 2 quarts of Vintage Performance LS for grain and she LOVES her hay!
judybigredpony- Her feet were a WRECK when I got her! She had been left barefoot and not trimmed for nearly 2 years! There was so much chipping and flaring and dead, useless hoof wall that my farrier wasn't sure she'd hold a shoe! I think she has made a remarkable turn-around in that respect! She was completely negative in her response to hoof testers, and has not taken a lame step! And she has a big, ground-covering rocking horse canter.
I think she would make a nice hunter and lower-level dressage horse.
HJSC- Thank you! She is such a happy, people-oriented girl! I had someone else ask if she were back at the knee, and I showed them a few other pics and they thought it was the angle of the pic and how she was standing. She may still be that way, but that was what they thought was going on. I'm thinking 3' hunters (if that) and below- I have no desire to jump big jumps!
