Default Dutch Stallion - Democraat - Anyone have any info?

I just purchased a new horse who is Westphalian although his sire is a Dutch Stallion Democraat. I could not find any information about him or whether he is even alive. Any one know of him and what he did. Thanks.

Democraat was a KWPN by "Pion". He competed at both high levels of Showjumping and Dressage. His offspring seem to be competing in both successfully as well.

A good friend of mine has a nice young mare by him that is excelling at Eventing. She is a very good mover and a great jumper. Probably would make a lovely hunter.

The successful show hunter Saint Nick (KWPN registered name "Hairos") was also by Democraat. I really can't think of any other Hunters off hand by him, but I remember there have been a few very good ones.

Here is a brief summary of Democraat:

    http://www.superiorequinesires.com/s.../democraat.htm

If you google his sire "Pion", you may be able to get more information about the bloodlines, as Pion also sired the famous jumping stallion Argus, and the famous dressage stallion Aktion. There is a lot of information about him and Democraat is always mentioned as one of his successful stallion sons.

I also wanted to mention that Democraat is the damsire of Steffen Peter's top Dressage mount Ravel.

The KWPN Stallion website is still free to research: http://hengsten.kwpn.nl/index_en.asp?lang=uk

You can find some good information there. Congratulations on your new horse!!

Thanks guys for the information. Never knew that about St. Nick. Never ceases to amaze me how much information you can learn from a Passport and these boards.

Here are some pics taken from after his vetting yesterday. He is obviously jumper, not hunter fit but he won't be for long.

My friend, Peggy Mills in Illinois actually has a 4 yr old Contango/Democraat gelding for sale. She also has several doses of frozen Democraat in her tank!

Yep, I found that out. This in-utero baby had 3 people wanting to own it?! It's sold but wow, what a following Ravel has. Democraat is a super stallion that exemplifies versatility! The OP should be very happy with their purchase.

Anyone know if Democraat semen is still available? The link to Superior Equine Sires is for last year. He's not listed now.

Back to the frozen question - I was looking for either Democraat or Henderson and I'm not having luck finding either.

I think you can DaVinci semen thru Cornell - edited to add...looks like they are out. Just wondering about his other sons.
