Love at first sight....the ladies' tweed at the bottom of the page, with the navy velvet collar. Yum. But I will have to love it from afar....last week's purchase of a new hunt horse prospect prevents me from acquiring such a lovely jacket!

Ixnay on tweed w/velvet on the collar for hunting. Plain collar is the way to go.

I've already got 5 coats and four vests from Alexander James. I love them.

They come to Rolex every year. I think this was the only year I didn't buy something. Well, I'd bought a frock coat and vest from them in December. Getting your colors is very expensive.

And, absolutely, nothing wrong with having it! It's lovely- just sayin- tweeds in the hunt field don't have velvet collars...

Sorry to hijack (thanks for the links Equibrit!), but has anybody ever seen a tweed coat with the seam at the waist? In other words cut more like a frock coat or what some people call "Olympic seam"?

If I get a larger than expected commission check later this fall, or some other unexpected windfall, there is very likely to be a rogue tweed, sporting some velvet, leaping over hunt country in Iowa
