Looking for something that rides like a Stubben Edelweiss, but isn't a Stubben...
The time has come to start my youngster over fences (YAY!!!).
Bad news... I can't seem to find a saddle that works for both of us that's within my budget. I adored my old Stubben Edelweiss but it's a totally different shape than the horse so it got sold. I have a Barnsby to try out seems to fit her well, but I feel really insecure in it.
Any suggestions?? I didn't like the new Bates; are the older ones deeper?
Mare has big WB shoulders and a moderate TB wither (SWB/TB cross), is 4 and growing. I have long legs and have issues with my knees sticking out over the flaps in a lot of saddles.
In the depths of time, the words uttered by early man as they leaped for the first time onto a prey animal with a brain the size of a golf ball, were undoubtedly, "Hold my beer and watch this...!"
I would also suggest trying other sizes/models of Stubben if you liked the one you have had. Make sure you have a fitter that has been through Stubben's saddle dealer/fitter program fit your horse, and you. A half inch here or there can really make a difference on fit for a longer legged rider. Good Luck!
