Purp might actually get to event again one day? and meet Cookie Pony? (pics/vids)
YEY!
Recap: Grey horse broken. No new horse.
until now...
This lil guy deserves a quick thread of recognition on COTH. He's been such a great guy this past month. And I'm so excited to be back in the scene.
Horse: 4 y/o trakehner gelding.
Name: Harry Houdini (aka: Scary Harry -- because he chased his babysitter pony around the paddock when he was a weanling -- the pony was terrified of him. lol)
Breeder: Kim Hunter of Twingates Farm
Kim actually found me in a round about way through COTH. Thank you COTH!
He had 4 months of dressage work with a GP rider in CA and now he's with me for some jump/event training.
It had been a year since I'd jumped anything more than an X. His 3rd jump school I set up a 5 stride and stuck in a 2'6'' vertical for the out. Purp is a ham and after cruising through that line I think I cried for the rest of the day. I hadn't felt a horse jump under me since May 2008. Talk about home sick.
We'll do the YEH stuff with him and hopefully the AECs next year. The plan is to go to the Hoochie trial in May and hang with Cookie!! Finally! Yey Stacy!
Be nice if Grey horse could go to Galway with us for the YEHC...we'll see.
We took Harry out for his first time XC this weekend. Note that I started jumping him two weeks ago after he had two months off/turned out. What an asset to Kim's breeding program. : )

I can't discribe my emotions. But wow I sure do love the babies. Especially the good ones. lol. I just love training youngsters, and I love the sport, and I love you guys (eventers)!
I had forgotten how much joy XC holds.
thanks guys.

This is SO great to hear; what an inspirational post!
Good on ya, and what a lovely youngster--good luck with him, and thanks for sharing this with the BB--it synopsizes how we all feel...

I am so happy for you! Harry is blossoming under your sympathetic and confident ride, as I knew he would. Now tell that silly grey horse that he had better hurry up and join the fun.
OK, it's a deal-- we will do the Hoochie trial next May!! If all goes according to plan, I will be getting a qualifying run for the T3DE there...

I'd actually like to do the T3D with both of the horses. Scary for sure and Booms if he events again.
Where will you be going? I need one at the end of the year.

Yeah T3DE!
I'm not sure which one I will do and I am waiting for the Areas III and VIII calendars to come out. The schedule will be a little wonky with the WEG at the KY Horse Park so that might affect things. I don't know if I would be ready in time for Indiana or would need to wait until a fall one . You'll be among the first to know, don't worry!

ooohh! ooohh! (She wildly raises her hand from the back row!)
The Young Prince ought to be ready for BN by next May! We cantered a whole circle today...three times even. Haven't jumped anything yet, but did go hang out at a XC school this weekend and went into the water, up and down a little bank and over a ditch. All more or less without a big deal (well except for some bucking...)
Love the babies. Love, love them...

I saw subk's youngster doing his first ditch (and the subsequent bucking )-- I never had the chance to congratulate you, subk!
ETA: RunForIt will be DELIGHTED if we both show up next spring.
