    Default Goldikova

    is back to her best.
Handily demolished a quality field that included Elusive Wave and Lady Marian in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville this afternoon.
    Le replay from Equidia.

    Holy smokes.
She just hacked up in the Prix le Marois. Absolutely smoked them.
Keep an eye out for the replay. She may be even better this year than last.

I guess there is no chance she will ever meet Zenyatta or Rachel A? She's a turf horse and they aren't, although Synthetic is supposed to be more like turf than dirt, isn't it?

Her last two races have been the equivalent of miles. Does she run longer?

    The replay.

She is a true miler, unlikely they will stretch her out again.
She has only ever been beaten twice at a mile, once on her seasonal debut as a 3yo where she was beaten a short head while carrying 131lbs (yep, that's right, a 3yo filly carrying 131lbs in April) and giving away 9lbs to the winner.
The other time was her only comprehensive defeat at a mile, a well beaten 2nd, 2½ lengths behind some filly called.... Zarakava.
Goes to show how out of this world good Zarkava was.

High praise indeed from her trainer, the former champion jockey Freddie Head.

Head heaped praise on his super filly, paying her the biggest compliment when suggesting she is better than the great Miesque, whom the trainer rode into Breeders' Cup record books with back-to-back BC Mile victories in 1987 and 1988.

"This is a great moment and unbelievable. The leader was a bit cooked and couldn't go as far as we had hoped but it didn't matter as Goldikova can do anything.

"I think she is superior to Miesque as she is better in the head. She has always been a little naughty at the stalls and that is the only fault she has."
