Default Injured Canadian eventer info needed

Does anyone recall the name of an upper level Canadian eventer who suffered a neck injury requiring fairly extensive rehab, surgery etc? There was an article she wrote about her experience in Practical Horseman I believe maybe a year or two ago. She recovered fully but I can't remember her name or find the article. Thanks!

Not an ULR by any stretch. It was Megan Maloney.

Jessica Phoenix may have suffered a severe neck injury. I say may have as in I am not entirely sure it was her that was injured. She was going to be on the Canadian Olympic team prior to an injury with her horse.

    Maybe somebody can verify

Thanks! Whoever it was wrote an article about her experience. I'm trying to locate that article.

Karen Brain - 1998 WEG I think? - has a blog - her injury was approx. 10 years ago though
Claire Smith - 1996 Olympian - her injury approx. 10 years ago

Would be interested in the article (and who it was) when you find it, riderboy.

Jessie Phoenix did not injure herself resulting in her not going to Hong Kong. Her horse was injured.

It was definitely Meagan Maloney who broke her neck a few years ago at Headwaters Horse Trials - I was there when it happened - and lived to write about her experiences in Practical Horseman.

You can find her on EMG http://www.equiman.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=cfrm . Her name there is Part-Time Angel.

It most certainly was NOT Jessica Phoenix.
Karen Brain suffered a bad back injury but has recovered, there was a rider on the West Coast many years ago who suffered a horrible neck injury
    her first name was Maya

That was Maya Hepworth. She is paraplegic and has limited use of her hands/arms. However she has been very inspiring in her recovery - got her Level 2, coaches, and can drive the horse trailer (the vehicle's adapted).

Yes, Goody Two is correct, it was Megan Maloney, and definately NOT an ULR (well, maybe in her own mind), but GT is correct. She wrote a piece for PH.

Those who were thinking of Jessica Phoenix might be confusing her with Jessica Ruppel, who suffered a nasty back injury last year. Fortunately she's completely recovered (AFAIK -- at least she's back riding at the Advanced level, with her very cool partner Naughty By Nature!).

Jessica R. was also the rider involved in that horrible hit-and-run this spring while riding on a quiet country road near Collingwood. Her horse, a three-year-old warmblood filly named Bella, had to be put down at the scene. So she has had more than her share of misfortune.

    Default no

The OP IS asking about Megan Maloney, or Part Time Angel - I think she used to post here under the same handle. She's back in the eventing game at the lower levels.
