Default Rarity at Oldenburg Elite Auction - White Sabino foal by Florencio

The name of the foal is "O' wie weiss" (Oh how white) and it is by Florencio-Relevant-Cordeur. All white except chestnut ears, like we all know it from a lot of maximum Sabinos. The dam herself is already with lots of white flash, she is by Relevant.

Neat-o! I want one. I'm with Beezer, that one could show up and find a lovely home in my barn. LOL!

I can't tell on my lousy laptop screen... are his eyes blue? or is it just a bit of sclera showing?

I've always had a thing for medicine hats... and I don't think before we really understood the differences between a maximal sabino and a tovero medicine hat.

Very lovely colt. Is he sold already or when is the auction?

The auction is August 28th, and the Foal Market is the 29th in Vechta, Germany. You can find more information on the auctions, etc. at www.oldenburghorse.com under either "Clinics and Events" or "Sales", or go to: http://www.oldenburger-pferde.com/horses/index.php

They have not posted the full Foal Collection yet, but that should be up very soon.

He's not actually a medicine hat is he? I thought that was an extreme overo or tobiano.

This one is extreme sabino so its rather a chestnut with extra, EXTRA long stockings. All the way up to his ears in fact and a belly patch that goes to his backbone on either side. LOL

I tried twice to breed one from different Sabino mares to Budweiser (who has already bred a white foal in Australia) and I got a chestnut with a star and a sock each time. Actually I wasn't trying to breed the colour but I wouldn't have minded, the fillies are super anyway.

It really depends on your definition of Medicine Hat. He only has one of the typical medicine hat traits - the solid colored ears and poll.

Any of the white pattern genes can cause a medicine hat-type appearance. Even splash.

There are some that believe the horse must also have a chest shield and solid colored back in order to be considered a true medicine hat. Some believe that blue eyes are a must as well. There are many others however that feel the solid ears or "war bonnet" is enough.

He's what we'd call a "war bonnet" in our breed. When only the ears are dark like that and no chest shield. I think he's going to darken up as he ages. You can already see the streak of color he has similar to his dam across his body.

    Nice looking colt.

Cute looking colt but I have to say the coloring is a bit off-putting.

Wow. THIS is a horse who would get noticed in the show ring and his breeding suggests he has a great chance of making a great impression no matter what his color. With talent and good training, color like that'll get him and his rider/trainer noticed. I do feel sorry for his groom, though. Very very sorry.

    Florencio/Relevant. Huh.
