    Default R.I.P. Pushy

Over the years,I have had the honor and privilege to teach many lessons on many wonderful horses and ponies. One of my all time favorites was Pushy ,aka Push Button. He was a little brown and white paint whith a heart of gold ,and the patience of Job. That pony packed more little kids safely around the the ring ,than I could possibly count. He was always the go to guy for a timid child ,or one wanting to learn the next thing. He could poke around quietly at the walk and trot for a hour ,or step up and smoothly execute a jump course with perfect form. He was the absolutely most perfect pony to learn to canter on ,as he was sooo smooth ,and slow.So many children learned on him.
Many of you will remember him from Fox Chase, Paper Chase, and River Chase. The last few years he was leased to the care of the Francis family ,where he taught the 2 youngest girls to ride. He was deeply cherished by the whole family ,and my heart goes out to them at their loss.
Pushy passed away last Wednesday evening afer a very sudden colic. he was taken to surgery ,but found he had lipoma which had strangulated 50% of his small intestine. It seems this type of tumor is very common in old horses/ponies ,and you have no warning until it is too late.
So ,with tears in my eyes ,I say "God Speed ,Pushy. One of the bestest ponies, ever.Thank you ,Pushy, for everything you gave to those who knew you."

    Default My Pony-pone

It is with a very heavy heart that I am reading this. I bought Pushy as a 2 yr. old from an ad in the Valley Trader paper. The "little" boy who had been riding him western had outgrown him. Pushy was a bargain at $250.00!

I was looking for a driving pony prospect and literally had Pushy broke to harness and driving on our back roads in THREE days. He was a pony who never had a pony attitude.

That dear pony clocked hundreds of driving miles with me before he began to double as my best friend's little girl's lead line, short stirrup and finally medium pony. I remember once when she was riding him bareback in the ring when she was four and kept trying to throw her leg over his neck so she could sit sideways on his back as he walked along. Everytime he felt her start to get her leg across his crest, he slowly and carefully stopped dead and refused to move as long as she wasn't correctly astride.

It became clear to me that Pushy was missing his true calling as my driving pony and he needed to have kids to love on him and in turn, he to take care of them as they learned how to ride. I sold him to a wonderful family with two little girls that sent Christmas cards with Pushy wearing a Santa hat. I knew he was well loved.

With tears in my eyes, I thank you for posting this and sharing what a wonderful soul Pushy was. He was the pony I never had as a child and I'm honored to have had him as mine for a time.

RIP you wonderful, wonderful Pony-pone. I have always missed seeing your beautiful blue eyes watching for your favorite post drive treat.....pumpkin muffins!

Godspeed Pushy, RIP. Lots of little kiddies up in heaven just waiting to love on you.

I had a Pushy when I was younger, he looked after me in every situation except for the day I discovered he was afraid of heights (we were almost at the top of a very steep track at this stage, he was hugging the side of the hill with his face turned in and I swear he had his eyes shut!! ) - then it was my turn to step up and look after him.
where am I, what day is it, am I still having a good time?
