    Default Video of Bareback Puissance

I found this video of a bareback Puissance on Youtube and thought everyone would enjoy it. The riders and horses are amazing.

jease, and a regular puissance always amazes me !

they jump 7ft bareback more stylishly than i jump 3' without stirrups! (granted, i'm not terribly stylish)

There should be a little clip under the video that says "DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT HOME". I think that I would be okay to cling helplessly to my horse on the take off, but that landing would make me eat dirt.

And I agree, I watched the Puissance WIHS last year and thought it was already amazing, but now I don't have any respect for those chickens who had saddles.

All I can say for the men in that competition is OUCH!

I don't have balls, but I'm having sympathy pains just watching those landings.

Not sure if it was this particular one but Britains Geoff Billington jumped in one of these bareback puissances a decade or so back. When he was interviewed afterwords the girl asked how he handled the landing part of the jump.
Geoff cracked this shit-eating grin, unbuttoned his pants and pulled a standing wrap out right there in front of the crowd!

    wow that is amazing!
i decided to ride bareback last week when i forgot my saddle at my barn and i take lessons at another barn. i had to go pick the saddle up before the lesson. it seemed ashame not to ride my horse. so i just took out the bridle and got on him bareback! let me tell you bareback riding is hard. i found my horse though responded to it very well. he really came into a frame and was soo balanced and wonderful. and i was wondering why? is it that i was sitting into him balancing with him. not sure but he was great. i have to say it made me want to lower my hands. and the last show, my trainer kept saying lower your hands. i started to get the hang of riding bareback but it took a bit of experimentation to find where his spine did not hurt me at the trot. the canter however was very comfy but i really had to balance myself. i think i am going to incorporate more bareback riding in the future! its not easy!
ps. i learned to ride bareback. didnt have a saddle for almost 2 years but that was a looooong time ago!

...I'll be posting more of him rather soon.

One of his other famous 1990s mounts was recently cloned, so I'll be including him and Willi in a tribute video that I'm putting together about cloned 1990s superstar horses.

Though I didn't know that story... I can tell you that Geoff Billington was indeed in this particular competition shown here, so it might've been this one! LOL
