    Thumbs up Zenyatta's Ears

I got my latest Blood Horse today, with the pictures of Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta on the front, and I had the thought again, I absolutely LOVE Zenyatta's ears. So long, so always alert, so up. She reminds me of my 2yo, who also has wonderfully expressive ears. I think he sleeps with them up.

I know it doesn't make any difference to a racehorse's ability how aesthetic his ears are. But still, I LOVE her ears. Even without her tremendous record, I would be a fan of hers after seeing just one picture.

I love seeing a horse so obviously in tune with what they are doing. Yeah, some horses have that ears back fighting game face, but I do love to see a horse with their ears forward like that, like they absolutely love what they're doing. Speaking of those two, I would loveeee to see a face-off

Every horse is different of course but for the most part when you see a horse racing on the front end with their ears pricked it means that they aren't working very hard. To me that makes the wins all that more impressive because she wasn't digging in and driving to win the race, she was just galloping along at leisure. Perhaps they should start noting the ear position in the form?!?

What I can't get over about that mare is her game-day funny walk! She should have been in that Monte Python sketch.

Seriously, the first time I saw it, I thought there was something horribly, horribly wrong with her and I could not believe she was going to be allowed to start when she clearly was not right.

    Shows what I know.
Congratulate me! My CANTER cutie is an honor student at Goofball University!

I just saw this the other day. It's a helmet-cam of Zenyatta training:

Don't feel bad, I thought the same thing and then watched her run. Oh I love that mare!

She may not have changed the stars from their courses, but she loved a good man, and she rode good horses….author unknown
