Anyone tried the Rusty Dare Cribbing Collar? Good/Bad?
I'm looking for a collar to rotate. Tried the French collar, tried the nutcracker, tried the Miracle Collar, (muzzle not an option--want to encourage as much food as possible on this guy--and I don't dig the straps).
BTW, I have to applaud the BO who set up the pasture entirely hot (even added a string in front of the gate with is a PITA for them), for MY horse, so he can have turnout without a collar--and is willing to take it on and off for his 2x daily feedings inside. If only all cribbers were so lucky! Am I not the luckiest girl who ever boarded a cribber?
A boarder at our barn has the Dare collar. Her horse is a bad cribber, didn't do well with the miracle collar or a nutcracker type one. Since he's started to wear the Dare collar his weight has picked up, he doesn't crib (used to crib even with the other collars on), and is generally a happier animal. It doesn't have to be nearly as tight as the others. I'm a believer.
