Hey Guys, who would you say are the top farriers in the NoVA area, in terms of education and experience, who do farm calls. I need a second opinion about about one of my horse's feet and I want someone who is really top-notch, not just the average neighborhood farrier. I know there is always Paul Goodness, but is there anyone as proficient as PG who does farm calls? Any recommendations would be appreciated!
I would not recommend this farrier - he beats horses (nice horses) with the rasp. He traumatized one of my well behaved horses and he has an arrogant attitude. (Sorry Susan). Other clients who have used him will back this up. It's not my intention to blast anyone here but in this case, be forewarned. I would not give him my business and cannot recommend him.
I was lucky enough to get Doug Anderson out and he is AWESOME! He's very passionate and caring about getting details of the trim right. He spent quite a bit of time with us, re-trimming our horse ane then answering our questions. He had his laptop with tons of xrays to show us examples of why he made adjustments to the trim. The whole inside of his trailer is a white board, so he can really explain just about anything with great detail.
His attitude and personality were just lovely - he was happy to answer questions and discuss everything. And anyone who knows me knows that I ask a ton of questions.
