Default So..anyone decide to use Banderas this year?

I know this stallion has been discussed on here a few times, but I'm wondering if anyone has definitely decided to use him this year (other than me, I am getting ready to send in my contract now). If so, what type of mare (confo., pedigree, etc) are you breeding to him?

Yep, I have a breeding to him. I am going to use my Canadian Warmblood mare Arizona (Fantast/Seafood xx). She is a very elegant mare with good movement and I think she will cross wonderfully with Banderas to produce a gorgeous hunter type foal.

I am in negotiations with DH right now....but its not looking too favourable. However, if I sell something before July, I would love to breed my Budweiser mare to him. Either that or I need to develop a cloaking device for the FedEx truck.

I like Banderas, it will be exciting to see how he produces! You have a year to sell those babies CSH! (LOL!!!)

I am planning on using him on my Landino/Pilot mare; hoping for a jumper, but I guess the potential is there for a fancy hunter. I like hearing what other people are using on him. I usually don't use young/unproven stallions, but I decided it was time to "diversify" a bit and bring some young stallions into my program (plus I just really like him).

I am still on the fence about breeding my 3 year old (ok, three next month) who is Contendro/Voltaire/Wellington and my top two choices for her are Banderas and Landwerder

OR...I could breed her mother who is Voltaire/Wellington/Nimmerdor

    Chris,
you can't leave a nice mare like that sit!

I believe tha Trillium is using him on several of their mares as semen is harder to get into CA right now.

I have met him in person and he is GORGEOUS! I don't think the online videos do him justice. He has absolutely world class canter. I also really liked the length and shape of his neck. All that fancy white doesn't hurt either : )
I don't have a mare to breed to him this year, but will consider him next year for my new Eastern Ruler/Vaultair mare.

Alright please advise on crossing him with a TB mare? She my show horse and I wasn't planning on breeding her this year but I might have to make an exception here!

    Forte,
    I'm curious about his gaits.

Canter is super, how about the trot and walk?

Wow, I just went and watched his video. Good grief, he makes me want to get back into the hunter/jumpers - drool.

I did not get a good look at his walk. The day that I saw him, he was just shortly out of quarantine and feeling fresh, so he was prancing more than walking : ) His trot is nice, not as much knee as his sire. His trot is more hunter than dressage. I was also very impressed by his temperament. Jen was able to lead him off of just a regular halter with no chain, even though he was just coming off of quarantine and feeling rather fine! I think he will be the type of stallion that could produce horses for hunters/jumpers or dressage, depending on the type of mare. I think he will cross well with a lot of different hunter/jumper mares, and may also be a nice choice for dressage mares that need help in the canter or neck department (Hey, I've got one of those!) He has a lot of presence and charisma. He's definitely one of those horses with that certain "something" that makes them shine in the show ring.

I am trying to convince my husband that we should not sell my 3 year old Navarone x Uniform filly and if I succeed, I plan to breed her to Banderas.

Banderas is one of my favorite new stallions out there!
