Hay Bags for Straight Load trailers?
I have an Exiss 2 horse straight load trailer and had a local dealer (of another brand trailer) install haybags. I am returning the haybags tomorrow as they are pathetically small. I want hay bags that take up the whole space in front of each horse. I just assumed that this is what I was getting. These things are so small that more hay will end up on the floor than with a hay net. Anyone know where I can get full size haybags? I plan to call around to Exiss dealers, but there are none close to me and I can't find them on the net. Thanks in advance!

Baker brand (the one that makes the horse sheets) makes roomy hay bags for straight-load trailers, and I want a pair, but I've never bought them because they're pricey. Sold by either Dover or SmartPak ...
I have looked high and low for alternatives and haven't found any. Hoping someone with the 411 will chime in!

Merhow has bags that fit and Shupe also has large hay bags that fill the space.

I ended up getting a 3 corner bag to work with some extra snaps.

I am looking for something like this too as I have a straight load trailer, but how do I install them if I do not currently have the hooks for the front part of hay bag installed on my trailer? Any tips on how to install them?

I had my trailer dealer install some D rings into the walls of the trailer to clip my corner feeders to. They didn't even charge me, so I slipped $10 to the man that did the work to get some lunch. They are not very big, and work well. They look like this:

I just didn't know how to install them, they knew exactly what I was talking about when I called them to make the appointment.

If you're crafty, it wasn't difficult to make a set myself. It cost me about $10 each for the heavy canvas fabric, webbing, and hardware. Plus, I was able to coordinate them with my trailer colors!

Hay Bags
Not familiar with this product but do you put your hay in these bags while travelling instead of hay nets? Can the horse reach the hay if he is tied in the trailer? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

This one comes un-velcroed if the horse gets his leg in.

Yes, they hold hay, and if you make sure the tie is long enough, or attach the tie to the side ring up on the cheek side of the halter, they can eat just fine.

Visualize a first aid "Red Cross" sign...
I made a paper pattern first, and it had 3 equal sections horizontal, and 3 equal sections vertical (the middle section being "shared"). I turned the fabric over so that the wrong side was facing up, & then I turned down about 1" all around the "top" of the squares and sewed it to give it a finished end. Then I cut (4) strips of webbing about 8" long and folded each one in half to make a loop appox. 4" long. I sewed 2 loops to one of the top squares (on the "backside" of the fabric) close to each corner, and 2 loops on the opposite square in the same manner. Then all I had left to do was sew up the 4 side seams. Make certain your loops are directly across from one another so that you can attach 2 snaps to your chest bars, and 2 snaps to dee rings placed the on front wall of your trailer. The first one I made was way oversize! I just cut it down, and it turned out perfectly. I never really did take any measurements, but you should be able to roughly measure your openings in front of your breastbars. You could alter the size of the squares, depending upon how deep you want your feeders. A nice large center square, surrounding by narrower squares would get you a broad bottomed, shallow feeder.

I think I will order my hay bags from Happy Trail (see grinnride's post above). They are 24x24 and 14" deep. All the others I've seen are 24x16x12, too small. I have a coming 2 year old who is a pawer with a huge range of motion and I am worried that she would somehow get a leg in a hay net. If she somehow got a leg in the bag (she'd have to go over the breast bar to do it), the bag would just break. Thanks for the responses.
