Default WEF Equitation Class free online- 5:00 PM today, 3/13

I just got an email that said the George Morris Equitation class would be available online at no charge. The class starts at 5 PM today, with about 35 entries, and it's usually two rounds plus a test of the top 4-6 at the end.

This is the class (formerly known as the Ronnie Mutch) open to kids who have won in the big equitation at WEF this winter, and the class format is unusual because the kids are on their own for the class. No trainers or parents allowed. It will be run out on the International Arena.

Also, the email said that the whole Olympic team will be on the panel of judges, which should be fun. It's a neat class for the kids, and a chance for them to really show what they can do.

I had a little trouble reading the email on my phone, but I think that was the gist of it. Enjoy!

thanks!!! im definetly going to try and watch it, even if i can only make it in time for the top 4. seems very interesting & good to build the riders up, since everything must be done on their own.

The warm up points range from -2 through +2 and someone is judging how they use the warm-up ring, what questions they ask their groom, etc. Listening to the commentary is funny...one guy knows his stuff, the other...not so much...very Best in Show!

Points (-2 to +2) for the warm-up ring are for horsemanship in the warm-up. They have someone (Anne K, maybe?) judging if they're doing a good warm-up with a variety of jumps, etc. to prepare themselves. Whatever that means... My guess is if they prepare adequately and if the horse seems to relax/improve during the warm-up. I think I heard at least one person lose points in the warm-up.

Right.. and one of them said he judged USET finals, and the other keeps asking him questions.. that's why I was curious who it was..

Thanks, also, are they not allowed to have their coaches in with them in the warm up? Did they walk to course with their coach?

No coach in the warm up and I believe they walked alone also
GM wants the riders to be more independent and do it all on their own

I'm annoyed at the feed, I've been booted off twice, and it keeps coming in and out, is it a mac thing? other than that the quality is better than I've seen, still happy that it was free!

    Nice horses!

I've got it up on my usually slow work computer and haven't been booted or stalled once
