    Default It's a colt!!! - Stedinger x Hohenstein

My Hohenstein mare presented us with a beautiful baby boy tonight at the relatively civilized hour of 11 pm. This is her first and I am very proud of her as she handled everything like a pro.
I am thrilled with the colt (okay, he looks like a grasshopper like they do the first day -- but a fancy one!). He is bay with two white socks behind, and a big star and large snip like his sire.

Any suggestions for colt names starting with S are much appreciated (mom's name is Hofdame, which means Court Lady in German, aka Arabella).

I will post photos soon. Of course the battery in my digital camera was dead tonight; I should have listened to my husband and charged it yesterday : ).

That is a very nice name, but my alma mater (Brown) might be upset with me! Thanks for the congratulations. I am really psyched on this one : ).

Don't ask me for name help, my 2 week old filly still isn't named (naturally I had several colt names ready).

I Love Stedinger, congrats on your baby! The name Shogen is a Zen/Buddhist name that means "Eye of truth" I also like Steinbeck as I think Beck is a good barn name and I am a reader!

No, I love my mare too much to subject her to that ; ). Dr. DelVento gets the credit for this baby. He did an awesome job. Shakira, my Sandro Hit, is up next; she is due with a Rousseau baby April 9th.

Thanks for all the congrats. I am going to try to get some pics today.

Congratulations! And I like the name that not again suggested: Steadfast.

Congratulations on your new little guy. He sounds very handsome from the description. Pictures would be nice. Big coincidence: There is a Trakehner mare by Hohenstein imported about a year ago whose name is SPS + PS Hofdame; she has had one or two foals though. At first glance, I thought it was the Trakehner mare you were talking about.

I know you are in seven heaven!! and how times flies, seems like yesterday she was just a little baby herself! and now Hoffie is a mom herself ! and a good one to boost!

    Can't wait to see photos!
