It seems only yesterday I was watching Simone get born (with me hovering quite useless in the stall) and here she is, having gone to a show in Southen Pines on Saturday just to "hang out" - she will be 4 end of May - (and many thanks to my young horse trainer!) -

Sometimes people choose intentionally not to use the full cheek bit keepers. Sometimes people want the full cheek but the also desire the effects of a loose ring. My 4 y.o. is a case in point. I took the keepers off the full cheek prongs after a lesson with one of my trainers where we decided the bit needed a little more play. Sometimes there's a benefit to removing them.
