Personally, even if I had the money, I'd never spend that on a horse.

It sure would be nice to have 16 million dollars, I think I would be plenty happy with just 1 million though.

Haha yeah, HE worked out real well. I don't think a profit was ever turned, and since he now stands at stud for $5k I doubt if it ever will! Quel turkey.

I've had a couple horses come close to that in vet bills I think.

I think he only made $10k at the track. I think he is down in Florida staritng this year. The farm says they are building him his own barn and feel people will want to see him. Wonder how much they will charge for addmission? Got a long way to go to make up that money. Let's hope The Green Monkey lives a long life and has a successful carreer at stud. I guess money is no object....

From what I understand his pricing had nothing to do with what he "is" really worth. It became a betting war between the Sheiks and Coolmore! So it kept going and going...He is cute but that's about it...had some nice work outs at 2 but never reproduced on the track...I feel sorry for him with a name like that...

If I am not mistaken he was "clocked" at a very high speed (ie running ____ in ______ seconds.). This was before he started officially running. This is what sparked the interest which ultimately led to the bidding war. I will have to look up the article.

Even though he was a flop on the track he is nicely bred and maybe can make his mark in the breeding shed. Danzig, they couldn't give his shares away and he ran well for three races that is and eventually became a very nice stud....
You would hope since he clocked a furlong work at that he would be a nice sprinter, a 12 second furlong is nice as well...
I hope he lives a nice life.....

I would have never paid that kind of money for the horse because he was cross-firing throughout the entire workout even though the workout was really fast. They may cross-fire for a few strides if they are green. However, it is unusual for a balanced horse that doesn't have an issue to cross-fire the entire length of the stretch. Even in that video, I see a little something behind that I don't like at time, albeit, it isn't consistent.

There are rumors that a deal was made before the bidding war began, and that Coolmore didn't actually pay anything near $16 million for the horse.

Also, this may have been a very nice horse. I just think that he wasn't a very sound horse, and if they are hurting, they aren't going to run well.
