I'm here and it's so cold we scratched for today. We came out at 6:30 to hack in the main hunter ring and couldn't because the footing was frozen. It's almost 9 now and the crew is still working on it. But I can hear them announcing the jumper rings so they must have started on time. Were going shopping and hoping next week is warmer!
yeah, everytime someone asks about going to Ocala for the first time you hear "Well, it's probably going to be cold and/or wet, so just bring everything you own!"
This is the first time in my horses life probably that he has worn a slinky - not to keep his mane down, but to try to provide some warmth
Any update? I had heard is was really cold....Just wondering if there is an end in sight to the cold? The Midwest horses and riders are used to some cold, but we also have heated and insulated indoors/barns....not ideal to be out hacking horses in 30 degrees-even us!
Although, I am not up there I've talked to a lot of people who are. They have told me that the #'s are down but some people in the jumpers are holding off showing there big horses so they can wait to speak when the big classes go like the 100k class and the 75k gp. Michelle Spadoone(sp) is down in welly world this week b/c she is 3rd on the reserve list for the 150k class they have down therte tommorrow night!!!!

Visiting a friend in Ocala we stopped at HITS over last weekend.
It was very very slow...We left after two hours.
Well, yeah I bet it was slow--it didn't officially start until Wednesday. The last couple of weeks were unrated pre-circuit shows. I only was involved in the main hunter ring for two days this week, and even though the numbers are down, the quality is there. Some very lovely horses to watch.
