    Default Eclipse Awards

    Anyone else watching this?

It is better then last year's coverage with a few poinant remarks from the winners thus far.

    Awards thus far ...

    Breeder: Adena Springs
    Steeplechase: Good Night Shirt
    2-Yr Old Filly: Stardom Bound
    2-Yr Male: Midshipman
    Male Turf: Conduit

I would've thought Stonerside would've gotten the breeder award over Frank's operations but alas nope.

Way to go Benny! Steve Assmusen wins the training title! No surprise there.

It was very nice that Steve Asmussen mentioned the late Parker Buckley Jr who died at Saratoga this past summer while on the job for Steve.

I hope that Joe Clancy, Jr. will write more about the thank you / acceptance remarks by the owner of 'Good Night Shirt' - Harold A. “Sonny” Via Jr.’s . Very moving from the heart remarks about the game.

Winner in the category Outstanding Owner: Stronach Stables

That's a shame in my opinion as IEAH - hate them or not - they have been Eclipse worthy owners for the success they've had. In light of all that Frank's good intentions gone bad with Magna I can only wish we'll see less of Stronach in racing.

Although 2009 will mark largely the last year that Larry Jones will have a large stable under his control I suspect already we'll see him getting an Eclipse for one of the horses under his care in 2009.

The standing ovation for Larry Jones was well deserved.
