There's not much more fun than "horsing around" on a pony! Especially Shetlands!
When I was a preteen and teen one of my favorite fun activities was when my friends and I would take the 5 Shetlands from our barn out and have fun on the trails. We'd race, take them swimming, mock joust, make up obstacle courses...we'd even play games of hide and go seek on the trails or tag. The best part is...Shetlands seem to have a pretty well developed sense of play and were always up for whatever we could think of. Of course since they're all evil geniuses too...you'd have to stay pretty aware of your pony at all times because they'd dump you the very first opportunity they'd get, LMAO!
The Shetland Grand National has been done for ages...always a fun as heck event!
    You jump in the saddle,
    Hold onto the bridle!
    Jump in the line!

So cute! And to see them clipped with their long-haired/poodle legs. I would have loved to do this as a kid.

Precious. I never get tired of watching Shetland Grand Nationals. That was taken at Olympia, it's a great horseshow.

That is FUUUNNNNNN!!!! So cute. The kids seemed to have trained for it. It's not like they are running around bareback in the backyard with no helmets, that would be a bit dangerous with so many riders.

I love the ponies' 'poodle' legs too!

Oh my God! That looks like so much FUN!!!! I would have loved to do that as a kid! Thanks for sharing that video, Erin--I'm definitely sending it on to a friend who always says "Ponies are MEAN!" as soon as you breathe the "P" word to her. I guess she got stuck riding some mean ones at summer camp as a teen because she's short.

I too love their "poodle legs"!

Thanks for sharing this erin! Why oh why is it so hard to find a PROPER (ie British Classic) Shetland in North America. These ponies are just terrific.
