Well, I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I guess it's like jeans - diff fits for diff bods. Nothing short coupled about me!

Well, I had a 17.2 OTTB. Don't have him anymore, but tried his old blanket on my approx 16.2 HH QH, and his rear end hangs out big time, doesn't fit AT ALL. Mind you, my boy is both tall, and built like a tank, and is wearing an 81 currently, not sure if he'll grow out of it or not as he's only 3. In comparison, my appendix gelding, also 3, but only about 15.2, takes a 76 and is currently not in any danger of growing out of it. I think it has a lot more to do with width than height. But there is a huge difference between sitting on my appendix, who I can practically click my heels together when riding, and my QH, who I sometimes feel like I'm doing the splits on, and he could not be considered overweight.

My guy is the same height and wears the same size as yours.

I have a 15hh horse who has a 74 that is too big for him and a 74 that is too small for him. Both from the same company (who claim their blankets all fit "true to size").
I had a 16.2hh perch/tb who normally wore an 82, but he had a 78 rainsheet that fit him just fine???

I thought for a while that my 15h2 TB was a freak of nature since he could wear my baby's hand-me-up blankets - a 72" turnout fit him quite nicely (the baby was at a farm out of state and mom was in charge of buying him blankets... that he never wore. She kept buying the next size up each year, and we kept picking them up, unused, each spring).
I thought that, of course, until the no-longer-a-baby baby moved up here, sticked at just over 16h... and is currently wearing a 69" Rambo. I tried a spare 74" that I had on him (left over from my first TB, who was about 15h2 and the original sportscar) and he was swimming in it. His 72" stable blanket is a bit long. He's pretty comfortable in the European sized 69s.
Le sigh. Two sportscars and one crossover - my oldest guy is 16h1 and wears a (very normal) 76/78.

I measured a horse for a kid who needed to buy a blanket. Horse was easily 16h, probably 16.1h, big WB type. I measured him about 5 times, kept getting 68". Had other people come measure him. 68". I'm thinking, there's no way I can tell this poor kid to buy a 68" blanket for this horse. There's no way. I actually went as far as checking the measuring tape to make sure all the numbers were there. So I take a deep breath and tell her to get a 70". He was swimming in it. Should've gotten a 68".
