Exclamation IL- lots and lots of Thoroughbreds (THIS SATURDAY)

    Hey all-

This Saturday (Dec. 6) there is a TB farm up for dispersal auction in Mt. Vernon, IL. (real estate, machinery as well)

There are bunches of Thoroughbreds that will be part of the auction, including broodmares, stallions, youngstock, and horses of racing age.

    Flyer here:
    http://www.hammondauction.info/uploa...cing__Inc..pdf

    Photos of horses here:
    http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/sh...1&type=at&in=2

Some more info on them here:
    http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/sh...1&type=at&in=3

It looks like there are some decent horses on the list, but "word" is there is already a dealer lined up to take those who don't sell. Figured I'd at least help get the word out, especially for the broodmares (pregnant and not) who are a little harder to sell these days.

    Shameless bump

My feelings wouldn't be hurt if someone wanted to pick up that lot#14 filly and warehouse her for me until after Christmas . LOL, and I said I wasn't a "mare person"!

Damn being all the way in New Hampshire with ABSOLUTELY NO ROOM!! I hope they all find safe homes.

There are some cool pedigrees there. I wish I had room for another stud - Company Approval would be coming to New Hampshire!!

Interesting, I hadn't looked at the pedigrees till I saw some comments on it... definitely some interesting horses in that group.

That grey stallion they're selling is gorgeous. Had to look up his pedigree:

    The mare Carrot Top http://www.pedigreequery.com/carrot+top2
makes lovely babies with Company Approval, and she is a GRANDDAUGHTER of Hyperion. Could be the Gray Sovereign double in the Company Approval foals.

That can't be the same mare as the Carrot Top you're referencing was a foal of 1969.

I'm pretty sure the Carrot Top in the sale is a daughter of Western Playboy.

Sent the info on the stud to my BO, who is looking for a TB stallion to replace her old guy (he's used locally and has produced some nice babies for eventing, hunters, etc.). I doubt she'll bite, though, as ILL is too far away.

If you can't be present to buy a horse contact Gail of ILEHC, she will be at the auction and may be able to assist you. Also if you would like to help, the rescue is asking anyone that can afford to purchase a horse and foster it for awhile to please do so. The ILEHC will work on your behalf to place the horses into suitable adoptive homes as quickly as possible. Contact

I like #16 - Company Cat. I tried looking up the mare's pedigree (she's not pictured in the sale), but there were many named Katinka. I am guessing she might be the 1989 edition?

But is Company Cat a boy or girl? It doesn't say.

How much are you thinking these horses might go for? Obviously the stallions & broke horses for more, but the unstarted stuff? Would a 2006 baby be started yet you think?

Hmm...this probably isn't that far from me.

I would think they had started the 2006 babies but I don't know for sure.

I have no idea about the price either, maybe try contacting the auction house. Looks like they have the gender missing on a couple of the horses.
