    Default non seasonal haiku

    I have a stone bruise.
This means I am NOT working.
    More epsom salts, please?

    Yes, this is the life.
I can still do happy bucks
    Just with that boot on.

    I'm in the cross ties
Mom strokes me while I'm soaking.
    Get that itch for me?

    Life could be much worse.
I still can graze, hang with Bow
    And eat peeps at night.

Hope you are feeling better soon Ted. But enjoy that deal while you can.

    Fall colors, brilliant view
    October memories though...
    loss and love and life

    Five years since she left
    Rainbow bridge got another
    a good dog goes too

    Fall color is bright
but brief, or else we'd die from
    impossible beauty

    Words cannot express
    or do justice to fall
    Haiku almost does

    Beauty so bright, MUST
be brief or our hearts would burst
    at the last fading

It’s so hard to know where my feet are, by Max, aged 3 ½

    It’s fall
    the leaves are turning
    all of a sudden
    I’m in training
    I barely just learned
to give my mom my foot
    the way she likes
    so that it falls gently
into her hand that I cannot see
while standing on three unsteady legs
it’s so hard to know where my feet are

    Me who measured my days
by the coming and going of hay
and who was kicking whose butt
    in the pasture
now I’m led out every morning
and expected to do incomprehensible squiggles
    in the wet grass
it’s hard to put my feet down solid
    on the uneven ground
while stretching out my neck to the bit
it’s so hard to know where my feet are

Once my teacher sent me over a little jump
and all of a sudden I had no feet
    my legs went whee!
and once I was over, my back legs kicked
    up and went whee! again
    just to get that feeling

    Dear Ted, please do tell,
How can I fake a stone bruise?
    I work way too much.

    Our trainer rides me
Once a week; my mom's friend
    makes me use my butt.

    But I love my mom.
    She massages my sweet spots
    every time she grooms.

    In return I work.
I do what Martha showed me.
    Shoot!!!! I should play dumb!!!!!

    After, there's carrots.
Stretching left and right and down.
    GIMME MORE CARROTS!!!!

    Dear VesperSparrow,
Jump when you can go around?
    What's up with your horse?

    Ami.

    Lego's Haiku on massage.

    Be mean, grind your teeth
    mom worries and brings someone
    to give you massage

    it is fantastic
she gets all of the itches
    and rubs your muscles

    mom will eat ramen
for all her dinners this week
    but boy I feel good.

He is such a cheap date. One face rub and he his little lip is quivering and he is falling all over her...

    Ode to a Stone Bruise

    This is the best thing.
You can still play, buck and run.
    Then you say, "This hurts!"

    In the arena
Filled with soft dirt and no stones
    Funny how it hurts.

    Now I have TWO boots.
But we only soak one hoof.
    Also Bow bit me.

    Where did Bow bite me?
Left hind, right near my belly.
    Cantering was tough.

    Our lesson last night?
Mom and trainer talked a lot.
    Two boots? One? Or none?

    I still get peeps though.
And grazing time, though not much
    We have to soak too.

    I do this before
All the clinics at the barn.
    My mom gets so freaked.

    I heard them talk though.
The magic words are "Clean Trax."
    I better get hay.

Ami, my poetry is bad so I guess I didn't express it well enough. He hasn't figured out that strategy yet. He thought that it was so much fun, he gave a happy little buck afterwards.

    Bright colors are here.
But it's warm! With bugs again!
    My eye's swollen shut.

    Mom's mellow. Blase'.
No temp. Eating. A bug bite.
    Carrot-boy still frets.

    I am on the fence
    about carrot-boy. Brushes hard.
    Ignores tail swishes.

    Mom says, softer please.
    He just keeps scrubbing away.
    Pop him in the fache.

    Hello?! I am alive.
Why are you with this dim bulb?
    Mom murmurs, he tries.

    Gives me peppermints.
    The aforementioned carrots.
    Even got some ice.

    *sigh* Heaven on my eye.
    Slips me some peppermints too.
    I guess he's okay...

Default Ode to the morning muster

    Snort trotting the path out,
shy at the falling orange red leaf,
    Gallop with lungs burning, alive.

    Crossing crystal clear icy creeks,
Aspens glowing, early morning sun rising slow
    Above peaks frosted white, ghostly.

    Glistening willows; yellow, red, green
Along creeks slippery with fish, shimmering shallows
    Horse hoofbeats, sparks on rocks.

    Early morning muster, heavy frost,
Hands cold on reins, eyes tearing, burning,
    Horses breath, puff of mist.

    Scent of firs, pines, lingering
In the air, crispness of fall promising
the chill of winter, soon to come.

    The end.

    My mom used to jump
    Hunters, jumpers, cross-country.
    Cross country was best!

    Nothing was so fun
    as galloping to a jump.
    Or so she tells me.

    She aquired me.
    I don't even do puddles
    much less water jumps.

    Weird colors, textures...
Hides the thing that grabs my feet.
    IT'S WAITING FOR ME!!!!

    Went cross country twice.
    The marigolds freaked me out!!!!
    Mom's head hung in shame.

    Open spaces spark
    distant racers in bloodlines.
    Running is FUN - Weeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

    Years of schooling makes
    stadium OK. Why lift
    feet if rails can fall?

    Half-pass, pirouette...
    better than hoisting body
    over scary things.

    Where the heck's my mom?
First was the trip to England
    That was, like, two weeks.

    I got weetabix.
So, all in all, not too bad.
    Then, 3 days this week.

    That was for panel.
Mom reads grants and earns money.
    Money for more peeps!

Then - last night - nothing!!
No peeps, no grazing - nothing!!
    She's got bronchitis.

    But it's autumn now.
    So many TB moments!
    I am so punked up.

    I am telling you,
    She better come out tonight.
    Or she'll regret it.
