Question Heat in the hock area without swelling

NEED HELP figuring out what's going on in my horse's hock/suspensory. I have been rehabbing my sport horse from a hind suspensory ligament injury. She has been healing quite well (lameness significantly reduced; confirmed via ultrasound). We have started and gradually been increasing hand-walking and she seems to be handling it well enough, with the exception of intermittent heat at sight of injury and a huge vein running across it. There is no swelling or obvious pain. Doc doesnt' think it's related to suspensory injury, but I'm concerned about it. Anyone else experienced this?
