Hope to see lots of people there supporting one of the few traditional 3-day events! It kind of reminds me when they came out with "New Coke". When the novelty wore of, Coke Classic came out and "New Coke" slowly disappeared! OK, I know, I am dreaming, but what harm?
I am going Novice on the team WBF Paint It Gray because we have two of each color! Our team was originally Sonny and Three Gray Chers (my horse's name is Sonny FYI) which I thought was hilarious, but then that team fell apart. I love Paint It Gray too though .
I hope we have some better brakes than Middle TN, and the awesome quality of our jumping at home WILL show up this time! We have been schooling Training really, really nicely and his dressage has been very steady and nice! I am excited.
Max was not himself for the dressage, very reactive and tight. we only got a 37.5. He jumped double clear in show jumping and xc. He kept switching leads behind so I had him checked out. Turns out he has a kidney infection! Poor guy. So, he did very well considering. We finished in 8th out of a large class. The show was awesome. Very well run and challenging. The weather could not have been better. From what I saw, the cci classes were very tough. I did see a lot of scary show jumping in the prelim divisions too - riders racing around and pushing their horses way too fast, crashing thru poles...
I know that Dorothy Crowell came in 2nd on one of her one star rides. I believe it was Hondo.
Dorothy was on my BN Team, along with two nice girls, Hannah and Amy. At the awards presentation, our team was awarded 7th place. Apparently, something got mixed up, so every BN team had to take their ribbons back to the office. Team "Eagle Eyes" actually ended up in 4th place.
Our team was the first to go cross country at 8am on Sunday morning. It was 38 degrees. The jumps and the ground had frost on them! Can you say, "Slippery"? Since over two thirds of the jumps on course were jumping down hill, I rode conservatively and got 3.6 time penalties, with no jump faults. The water complex looked very spooky, because of the fog condensing out of the warmer water. Tess was a good girl and cantered right through it.
Tess had a double clear show jumping round. For the HT placing we were 5th with 39.1 penalty points. Congrats to Jyl La Vera and her team for winning the BN Team Challenge. I believe that all of them finished on their dressage scores. Great job!
The girl was riding with Ian Roberts' team, so I'm not sure who owns the horse. But it was just great to watch him go around SJ and XC, and then walking on the buckle/trotting on the buckle afterwards.
