Default Is anyone going to the Dover "private opening" in Alpharetta tonight?

    That is my question.

    Default No - I wasn't invited

    That is my answer.

Nope...I wasn't invited either. And since we STILL have no gas up here, I will be staying home.

As I posted on another thread, don't feel too bad about not going. I went to the one in Dallas and it was quite clausterphobic and was difficult to shop because there were so many people! I didn't find any stupendous deals but the raffles (which I didn't win) were nice - including an Hermes bridle.

Ooh a "private opening"? lol I didnt even know that something like that existed... is it like the opening of a movie, where only elite and famous horse people are invited? Guess I'm not quite at that level yet

Not elite and famous-it is actually for people who have been idiots with spending over the years.

Thank goodness my name got saved from the Reagan years.

It actually IS a very odd selection process. I RARELY order from Dover.

Whoever goes, be sure and let us "lesser mortals" know what we missed?! I certainly didn't get an invite because I refuse to pay their ridiculous shipping fees. Hence, my $$ spent elsewhere!

Beezie Madden was at the opening party tonight. How cool was that?? The place was packed and there were plenty of bargains. I also saw just about every horse person in the north Atlanta area.

Glad you ladies had such a good time. I spent the evening with the vet LOL. Getting someone's butt stitched up. But, all is well in la la land again. Generally the only time vet ever has to come here in the night is when I am gone LOL.

And another day in paradise. Hope you guys did lots of xmas shopping at least. And meeting Beezie must have been so cool.

I saw your car in the parking lot and looked for you but never found you among the throngs of horse folk.

Snkstacres, sorry you missed the fun. I hope it was nothing serious. I plan on going back to shop more when things calm down a bit in there.

Default did anyone bring home goodies?

It was a fun time... of course I only knew the person I went with, my trainer, and met about a dozen people SHE knows while there. We came straigt over from setting up the hunter ring at Wills park.

Did anyone get any spectacular goodies? I bought a couple of the $10 saddle pads, a pair of zocks, a vest to have embrodered with barn logo and a cooler.

Trainer, on the other hand, bought a bunch!

Only thing I was bummed about was not getting to try the chocolate cubes on a stick I saw float by on a tray... they looked yummy!

I admit, I took one look at that line and thought "no chance in hell!"

Well, don't tell... but we squeezed into line with some friends and were were outta there by 8:30. The line did look horrible... but by the time we left, it was still long, but not "wide", so I think they were doing a really good job of wrangling everyone.

We went and had a great time, meeting Beezie was cool, no shopping, too much chatting, but will go back to shop, very nice store.
