Newly Spayed Collie dog mix FOUND A HOME!!
Willow is a 1.5 year old collie/Australian shepard mix - she was just spayed (today), but must now go back to the shelter if no one decides to adopt her. She is going back to a high kill shelter and will be euthanized. She is a little shy and will need someone to draw her out of her shell; however, she has a nice personality and would be a great dog for a patient, animal lover willing to put a little energy into her. She is about 25 lbs. and she has an interesting brindle coat. She is schedule to go back to the shelter on Sunday morning.
Please let me know if you are interested in adopting her. She is located in Raleigh, NC (but I can bring her to you if you aren't too far away or we can meet). I have included a link to pictures of her from the shelter - the posting is incorrect when it describes HER as a HE. She is a female.
Thank you - CM

Seriously tempting...
Try contacting collie rescue: http://collierescue.net
-instead of the shelter! I think they are located in Winston-Salem.

I encourage you to find a reputable rescue to hand her over to, rather than taking her to the high kill shelter, if that's what you really plan to do. I wonder why you had her spayed today when you plan to send her to be euthanized on Sunday? I'm sure if you did a little research on rescues in your area or state, you would be able to find someone who would care for this dog -- at least for a longer period than you are willing to.

Why do you assume this the OP's dog?

A better explanation...
Thanks for the messages - I am veterinary student and we spay shelter dogs in our surgery classes...so I didn't simply spay a dog that I knew was going to be euthanized. The shelter allows us to learn by spaying their dogs and in turn they get a service for free. Since I am a vet student (gone for 12+ hours per day), living in an apartment, it would be unfair to the dog if I were to keep her.
I have called and e-mailed practically every rescue in the Triangle area and NO ONE can help me. This dog has medical care, food etc. - I just need a foster home or a rescue to agree to take her in. Everyone says to me that with a little work I will be able to find a home, but frankly I have tried everything with very little (actually no) success.
The collie rescue will not take her because she is not pure bred and the other collie rescue (which does take mixes) is at capacity.
Any other suggestions?
Pictures will be coming this afternoon - thanks for reading the post...hopefully I can get some help from somewhere!

I think the petfinder link is wrong - although that little guy is cute!
If you must choose between two evils, choose the one that you've never tried before.

She is very cute! Looks very Aussie - I would maybe change your post title to reflect her Aussie heritage too - there are lots of Aussie fans out there!
I wish I could take a dog right now

rescue info
This site lists Aussie Rescue links. Please try them and see if they can "rescue" her. If the link doesn't work please let me know. http://aussierescue.leepfrog.com/purebreds/links.html
Don't let the word "purebreds" deter you from making a call. There are mixed Aussies on these pages too. Try ARPH, they have a NC/SC rescue site. Please.

Simply to deter people with less than good intentions, her adoption fee is $50
