4 year old: "Heeeeeeeeeeey." Google eyes. "Don't you want to pet me" Cute squishy face. "Don't you want to hoooooooold my face and ruuuuuuub my eyes?" Blink. Blink. As you hold her whole head, she closes her eyes and won't move.

Her mom: I'm in charge. You're my person and I know it. I'm not into all of that squishy stuff. But, no one gets ahead of me. I'm standing here, a bit uptight, but, it's just me.

Adorable Azteca gelding rescue: OMG - AWESOME! Let's jump! Is that a ball to Chase! Yes! Wait, that's a cat - I bet I can herd cats! Hold up, what is this? Sweat?!?!? We are DONE! But wait, now my head itches, and I need to roll! Wait, mom, I'm coming with you! (follows me with head right by me). I love you, mom, let's play again, soon! Just no sweating next time, ok?

Wise, wonderful OTTB mare rescue: from the herd of mares as I approach, "Hey (mid-munch of grass or round bale), what's mom doing here? Back off, be-atches, that is MY mom! More specifically, my mint!". As we head into work, "Ahhhhhhh, okay, time for some work, but that's fine, may as well. I love you, Mom, so it's all good."

"Why are you using my belly scratcher to pick up poop?"

My gelding likes his belly scratched with the shaving fork. He won't let me clean up till he gets his belly itchies scratched.
