Default Yet again, a TB pedigree question!! OMG! NO lines to Nearco?? How is that possible??

I got my new TB mare yesterday

    Here's her pedigree :
    http://www.pedigreequery.com/sea+jet2

As well, would anyone knowledgeable have something to say about this mare?
    http://www.pedigreequery.com/bella+blue5

I am wondering if any names in their respective pedigrees mean anything good for Sporthorse breeding?

I am told the first mare, Sea Jet, has a good pedigree for racing but I think I recognize names that mean good things for hunter/jumper breeding but I am not sure about anything when it comes to TB pedigrees!!

    Many thanks

I have pics, but not on this computer yet

Edit: OMG! I just entered her on Sporthorse-data.com and I just realized that this girl has NO lines to Nearco?? Is that even possible today?? http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?d=sea+jet

No one has anything to say or did it simply slip below more interesting threads?

Both mares are nicely bred. I see the second one has Princequillo 'way back. Unfortunately, my knowledge of sporthorse-specific TB lines is limited to the older names like Hyperion, Man 'o' War, Bull Lea and others of the bygone days.

Hoping you get better answers than this!

Well, there is a lot to say about both. One thing about the second mare that jumped out is that she is Chieftain tail male. Shaab, the TB sire of British eventer Shaabak, who came second at Badminton this spring and either is or isn't at the Olympics because of an injury, is damsire Chieftain--IIRC.

The first mare is impressive, but I have some doubts about Unbridled's gets' soundness even though they are beautifully bred for eventing. Unbridled and Raise A Native doubles are probably not the safest breeding for soundness. Eight Belles had those lines in multiples. But if your mare is older, she may be past the dangerous stage.

Will send a PM later, if I can find time.

    Thanks Vineyridge!

Yes, I'd love to know more! My mare (the first one) doesn't have any soudness issues... she does with FENCES LOL! No really, she is simply a bit injury-prone, thankfully most of them due to foolishness around flies!

Otherwise sound and solid. Raced 12 times from 2 to 4 years of age and retired sound (I think?).

The second mare is the dam of my GOV mare. She made it into MMB and received a premium!

    See first post edit!

I am shocked. I must have read or entered wrong... I didn't even think it was possible to find a TB without any crosses to Nearco in NA... or is it?

There are multiple lines to Nearco, the Bold Ruler should have been a giveaway.

Um, Bold Bidder is Nearco, Viceregal is Nearco, Bold Ruler is Nearco. Gold Digger is Nearco. Sweet Tooth is Nearco. Proudest Roman is Nearco.

The Native Dancer/Polynesian lines and the Nearco lines are both Phalaris, as is Buckpasser. On the whole this is a very good example of the pedigree of a contemporary racing TB.

Then there are some mistakes in the database... it did seem highly unlikely...

    sea jet:
Unbridled Jet has both Alydar and Raja Baba on the dam side.
Alydar is the sire of 3-4 sires of GP jumpers.
Raja Baba is the sire of numerous sires of Hunters, Jumpers and Eventers.

If you do a search on this forum you will likely find more info on both Alydar and Raja Baba.

    Bella Blue:
The only thing I noticed was Restless Native but he is too far back to have much impact.

Restless Native produced some Hunters, Jumpers and Eventers through several stallion sons.

Default On the subject of Nearco blood...

Just as a comparison, here's the pedigree for Denny Emerson's stallion, Reputed Testamony:

    http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/reputed+testamony

And the blurb from Denny's website:

"There are virtually no Thoroughbred stallions left anywhere whose pedigrees aren’t loaded with Nearco blood, through Northern Dancer, Bold Ruler, Mr. Prospector, and a host of other stallions. Rep’s pedigree is completely free of any Nearco blood, making him a rare outcross."

My farrier just loves this stallion.

I was waiting for the experts to post.
I am not an expert. Just know what I like and who I've watched race.
You've got Alydar and Easy Goer, and of course Bold Ruler.
Go back further in the bloodlines, and you should find Nearco.
You mare has some very good racing bloodlines. So enjoy her and maybe the experts will evaluate her lines for you.

Just click on a couple of the names in the 3rd and 4th lines and you will see them go back to Nearco.....you aren't looking far enough back
