    Default Pony-sized KK?

Has anyone ever been able to find a KK to fit a medium sized pony? It is my favorite bit, bar none. Just started riding a medium pony and think he'd benefit from one. In Dover the smallest they have is a 5"- has anyone found any smaller? If not- has anyone found anything similar?
Oh- and I'm referring to the standard snaffle with the "bean" in the center.
    Thank you

    How small do you need?

Just for Ponies has some knock-offs... http://justforponies.com/index.asp?P...TS&Category=65

And I bet if you go to a local tack shop that carries the KKs they can order you the smaller size. They do come in the smaller sizes, they just aren't common in the catalogs.

If you can't find it in the US, shop4bits has an amazing bit selection. shipping is a little pricey, but not outrageous.

Thanks all for your responses I'm going to check out all the links. It is entirely new to me to be trying to outfit a pony (and a medium pony at that!). Seems like so much of the dressage items don't come in pony-size......

that is a tough one. For those the sizes run usually 4.5 (11.5 cm), 4.92 (12.5 cm) and then up. With the snaffles 11 cm, 12 cm (4.75). But those sizes are available on most (european) tack shops.

trying to copy one of 11.5 cm for you, but it isn't working.

It is a real challenge finding quality dressage gear for ponies. I have two medium ponies (one with a really refined little head), and several larges that will be ready to start next year.

I bought some gear when I was in Germany several years ago which was the best way by far. If only I could justify another trip for tack shopping! I have occasionaly lucked out on ebay...

Last week I bought pony reins (hard to find in black), a fleece dressage girth, and a nice, basic pony sized dressage pad for justforponies. The service was really good.

Central Florida's best tack source, Jo McKrackin's Mobile Tack has now ordered some adorable pony pads from Germany that are great for showing. She also has some pony bridles and bits.

I have had a heck of a time with bridles for the medium ponies...the one I am using now is a Bobby's and I have been underimpressed with it. Less then a year old, lightly used...today the flash fell off;( I bought an RTS bridle, but the proportions are wrong for the medium. Anyone have any bridle advice?

I couldn't believe how hard it was to find sliding side reins in pony size in the US! Apparently American ponies don't need proper longing.

Thanks for the pony websites! I also had a very hard time finding a 4-1/2" bit for a young horse, those sites would have helped me out! I found a place in Florida via the internet that had small bits____but I failed to book mark the place. <argh> Thanks, I'll keep the ones you all mentioned.

Oh-ah- I found this site you might like too!

Dover has the KK Ultra loosering as small as 4 1/4.

For weymouths, try Schneider Saddlery (sstack.com) they have a mullen in 4 3/4.

Just for Ponies had bits that are just like KK's in pony sizes. We use them on all of our ponies.

I have a KK Ultra in the metric equivalent to 4 3/4, bought for my last pony and she hated it. If anyone wants it... make me an offer!
