STB in UPSTATE NY looking for new home. Pasture Pal/Companion/Light Riding
Unfortunately, I can no longer afford to keep my adopted Standardbred Chester. Chester is up for adoption through Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF). I am assisting SRF in the search for a home for him.
Chester is a 1994 STB Gelding. 16.2hands. Chester has a small handicap of his left front ankle. When you look at him you would think that he is lame, but he has lived with his injury almost his whole life, and has adapted to it. He can still run like the wind when he wants to. He requires no maintenance as far as meds, shoes etc. He can be ridden at the walk, and a little bit of light trotting/(pacing). He can do trails as long as they are not hilly, as it is hard for him to go up and down with the extra weight on his back. He will also ride bareback and is great with children & therapeutic riding. He has had people surround him in wheelchairs and he will stand there like a saint and let them brush him--special needs people used to ride him in a bit-less bridle. He is a gentle giant with a unique and goofy personality. Gets along well with other horses. Chester could also most likely be used for light pleasure driving. I have long-lined him but never hooked him to a cart.
What a lovely video! Fudge, my first horse, was usually guessed as a standardbred. Your
guy certainly reminds me of him (he crossed the Bridge 3 years ago at age 30ish). Good
luck in finding him a home.
