This is Brown Beauty, she was an adoptee from CANTER NE. This was her listing photo.. not sure when this was taken. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...eautyNEW06.jpg

This one was about a month after I got her home. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...utyPasture.jpg

She was never going to be ridable from the bow that ended her track career. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t=P4250149.flv Guess we blew that one out of the water. This was on April 25, about 4 months after she was first restarted. Mind you she's ridden 3 times a week max as we rehab the leg.

End of May enjoying the pasture. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8Hellooooo.jpg

I love these OTTB's and so many of them have such great stories behind them!

I love this topic! So many of these guys are just as fancy as the warmbloods, if not fancier. I still love a good TB.

I don't have any before of them (he came from an event barn, so wasn't totally tracky when I got him), but here's mine: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/45/15...26fe3ecc_o.jpg

Neat story about my guy: He is English-bred and was purchased by Coolmore for $450,000 as a yearling. Lucky for me he didn't live up to that pricetag on the track.

I'll have some after pics of rosie soon, when she gains more weight and gets a little better, but I don't own her so it's not the same as some of these. I really love these threads, they're so fun!

Yay! Have you sent these to Jim? He'll be thrilled to see him doing so well!

(For those who are mystified, Jim is Arado's breeder, who has racehorses and always does right by his "kids." )

I have, Jim and I e-mail often. And I never fail to thank him. Btw, we have a nice little mare by Staged Attraction that is here doing well and looking for a girl of her own...here's a picture at a local show (she also came from him)

Decided she didn't want to be a racehorse, so here she is!

This is Ace, my 8 yr old OTTB the day I brought him home. He had obviously been off the track for a while, and landed in a pretty bad situation:

And this is him on Friday 7/25, just six months later. These were taken in honor of our first real ride:

(Note the ginormous grin on my face in the last picture. I was on cloud nine to actually be riding him!)

    Heres my guy- Storm Gulch

We bought him around the end of April beggining of May. Hes a graded stakes winner and ran on the derby trail. He's by Gulch and out of a Storm Bird mare. He's 8 and raced 59 times and won a little over 100,000 dollars. I just cant say enough nice things about him. He's dead quiet, we can hack him out in huge hay fields in good company and hes just as quiet as can be. Hes already plopping over small jumps (nothing major) and he just loves his new job.

Learing to long line and track to the right was very hard on him at first. he was very nervous. but now hes as quiet as can be and just down right lazy about everything.

He loves trail rides and long walks down the quiet roads around here. he's fine alone or with friends. i am so happy to be able to ride him.

Needless to say-hes still loosing his muscle from the race track and we still have a long way to go but here is mr. adorable:

Before: (He really liked the spring time mud at first)

    After:

    http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...t=IMG_0443.jpg

    http://s70.photobucket.com/albums/i9...t=IMG_0442.jpg

Ill try and get some updated conformation and riding pictures today or tomorrow and ill be sure to post them as soon as possible.

Just an FYI, tbs by the same sire are never referred to as "half" siblings, that only applies if they are out of the same dam. If only that was true, my guy could claim half brother status to the Breeder's Cup Winner and top 5 lifetime earnings steeplechase horse, Rowdy Irishman. Alas, all I can claim is that hopefully my horse got some of that jump from dad as well.

But either way, what a lovely pic of your guy jumping!
Definition of "Horse": a 4 legged mammal looking for an inconvenient place and expensive way to die. Any day they choose not to execute the Master Plan is just more time to perfect it. Be Very Afraid.

She's from Jim as well? What's her racing name?

Yes she is from Jim, too. Her registered name is Patricia Dean, but she was never raced as she has no desire to go fast at all.She is a sweet girl doing well schooling 2'9" and likes having a job.

Jim is very considerate of his horses and I for one cannot say enough good things about him. A friend of mine has another mare off the track from Jim that is a lovely eventer out in Missouri.

DMK technically I am aware of that forgive me for posting otherwise. Jim has educated me on how they are considered to be related. He is however, by Marias Mon and out of a very nice mare[Miss Fizz].So I stand corrected.

Thanks to for the compliment , Fizz is a good boy and she has really enjoyed him.

Thank you! He is such a good boy...I am lucky to have him.

This is Charlie, my other 8 yr old OTTB. I don't have a real "before" shot, but he makes a very pretty "after"!
