Yesterday. He's got the best mind ever very willing and kind. We hack out all over the farm I live on. Now he just needs to learn where all his body parts go! He's big 17.2 hands.

Did you realize that he had the same owner/trainer combination as Street Sense? Have you let them know how he's doing? I bet they'd be tickled!

Yes I did know and I got to meet him the year Street Sense ran the derby on the backside and got to show him some pics of him now. ( I live about 60 miles from Churchill) Carl remembered him and was very nice and very pleased to hear he was doing well and let me give Street Sense a pat on the nose for good luck!! I guess it worked!!

I'll have some after pics of rosie soon, when she gains more weight and gets a little better, but I don't own her so it's not the same as some of these. I really love these threads, they're so fun!

Yes I am he is such a laid back boy and honest. He has given my 14 yo who also rides him so much confidence. He really takes care of his rider and has a "Hang on mom I got this" kind of attitude. I love him to pieces and he is my once in a lifetime forever horse

My last OTTB (stable name Riley) came from Mountaineer Raceway in West Virginia. He began his race career at Belmont as a 3-year-old, but I think they quickly realized that Soes Ahead wasn't ahead of very many other horses very often, and he filtered down through the claimers.

He didn't race until late in his 3-year-old year, and we picked him up as a 6-year-old. He had a shoulder injury that took a good 6 months to heal. When I brought him home, he looked like a giraffe on crack. Picture a 17.1 hand dark, dark bay, with a tiny little body on these ginormous legs. He was thin (ribby with cow hip bones) and this skinny little neck atop these long legs. He truly was homely.

That said, he went on to be an incredible event horse. He was a LOVELY mover, and an incredible ride to the fences. Here's a pic of us going cross-country at the end of his first year evening (as a 7 year old). There are other pics of him in that same album.

Everyone's animals are totally stunning! As someone with one of the new "in style" round slow WBs, I would hate to be in a line up against any of these horses. All beautiful turnarounds!

I love the stories guys, everyone looks great, here is my guy that I bought from Maple Shade (including the best picture of all time, Henry pretending he's a grand prix horse at his first oxer w/Maple Shade!) The two conformation shots were within a month of getting him, and I need to do a new confo shot now, most people wouldn't recognize him!! I am completely blown away. All of you have ended up with some truly wonderful horses.
They could all be poster horses for adopting an ottb. So many people have got the wrong impression about this breed ie. they are crazy, hard to train and will never be anything other than a race horse. I know if they see photos like these it will change there minds. Great idea to start this thread I enjoy seeing them keep posting this is great stuff!

Here's my CANTER cutie...he is still in the process of learning his new job, I got him at the end of January of this year, and didn't really start riding him till almost April.
