Default Before and After pics of your CANTER Cutie / OTTB!

I know if we've seen one of these threads, we've seen a dozen, but my dear friend managed to snap the neatest picture I have to date of my TB at a show this past weekend, a random candid shot with a plain 'ole digital camera but boy did she have the timing on this one! He has only been showing since April so I hope to have many more show photos in his future, but this made me proud and I wanted not only to share, but to encourage others to post yours!

I personally would especially love to see the OTTB "Hunters" - anyone who wonders if you can get one off the track with a gorgeous jump in him, here's the evidence I'm capable of providing!

86 starts on the track, 15 wins, and $220K in earnings...

And here he is on Sunday!

Rudy at his breeder's, four months after coming home from Aquaduct and getting kicked out in the field (pardon the saddle mark, this was right after I tried him on a warm spring day):

    Rudy at Breeder's

    One month later

I haven't done much with him over the last year, due to school and work commitments, but we hope to see the inside of a show ring this fall!

Here's my OTTB gelding Watson back when I first started working with him last year. He had been out in a pasture for two years prior to this photo.

    Before

Here's Watson two weekends ago at a local hunter show. The jump is only 2' or 2'3" (not sure what class this is from.)

    After

Oooh, I love these threads! I'm so boring/lazy I rarely get new pics of mine- I've posted the first two before and after pictures before, but I'll see what else I might have that shows how much he's changed....

The first week I got him: http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...pyoct05two.jpg

    One year later: http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...happypurty.jpg

The reason I bought him: http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...happyjump5.jpg

This spring, thinking about biting my toe (you probably can't see it, but he is wearing his "I Bite!" saddle pad): http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...sie/happy2.jpg

    ETA: Watson is CUTE!

    showing off with my trainer
and the real reason I bought him...he couldn't be sweeter!

oh and foursocks--goodness! that thing wants to jump all sorts of badly! so cute!!

These are pretty old pics since the OTTB in question has been doing his hunter job for about 12 years, but the first pic was just off the track, in three, count 'em THREE foot bandages, the next one was less than 24 months later if my memory serves. The one in my profile was this year or last (can't recall which one is there)

off the track by about a month

    24 months later

He's a good boy and was about the easiest thing to get to the ring. His first course evah - and by "evah" I do mean the first time he strung together more than 2 jumps was at WEF in the 3-4 year old pre-greens. He just strolled in and kind of said "cool, I like this better than racing" and that was that. He never even got particularly upset at the show environment.

Great thread! I don't have an OTTB but know a few that have been successfully reschooled.

He was Park The Bug. He ran once at Laurel and twice up north, both State-bred maiden claimings on the lawn (he's by Gorky Park) and had the same MO: broke sharply and bulleted out to the lead, packed it up at the half mile pole and wound up more or less tailed off. By his second ride off the track, he was cantering on a soft rein like buttah.

He's from Billy Meister's. He came to the barn one day, jumped around everything our outdoor (oh and he was three!), and never went home!

I love all of these! Such good-looking beasts! My TB has a jump like no one's business but there are two others at my barn, also off the track, who are about as fancy as you can get. Even their walks are gorgeous!

I think a classic TB hunter is one of the loveliest things to watch. A good horse is a good horse, but it's extra-fun to see something all scrawny and tucked up- racing fit- metamorphose into a shiny, elegant show horse.

Everyone's horses are beautiful. And could blend in with any company. Who says TBs are out of style

Sing Mia Song, I remember when you got your guy. He's looking super!
