Ok I can get Fergie into Atlanta tomorrow, MTR will meet me and we can do the switcheroo and then ITA can pick her up in Aiken.
This is too wonderful. Miss Fergie got a brand new collar today for her trip. Hooray Fergie.
and thankyou to everyone for going to bat for this little girl. She deserves the remainder of her days to be spent being loved. Its that simple.

Everyone here keeps asking me questions about her.. How old is she, how much does she weigh? Is she a merle or a tri? I guess I will find out when we pick her up but daughter wants to know.
What is her history?
Thanks

Hey there ITA, We are meeting in ATL tomorrow at noon. I will be back home by 4pm. Do you want to get her tomorrow night or wait until saturday?
This is what I do know:
Furrgie is 5-7 yo, being treated for mange, has a mass on her chest. It may be a hematomato as it is going down in size....the vet doesn't know what it is...didn't really look at it any further. This is what SKA has told me. As far as the rest of her history...I don't know...I don't think anyone does. Once a vet thoroughly examines her, more can be determined.
It is wonderful that your daughter is looking forward to having a new furr=sister. Yeah. I can't wait to see SKA again and give her a hug and say thank you for all she has done for the animals.
ITA, it is wonderful that she has a home now. Without you, well, you know... I am so glad to be a part of this journey for this little girl.
I can't wait.

The little girl is in Windsor SC right now. She is resting in her new "bedroom" for a few hours to let her wind down. She jumped in the back seat and ate "leftovers" from SKA's lunch. She found them delicious. As soon as she settled in for the journey, she let us know that she was relaxed by passing wind. Let me tell you, my eyes were watering. Once home, I walked her up our long driveway. As we got to the farm, she drank and drank lots of water. She met our crew, sniffed a few cats, and posed for the papparazzi!!! Here are the best of her pics...she may be a model yet!
She is such a calm and quiet girl. She will be a lucky addition to ITA's home and family.
Good Luck!!!!!

hahahah ok it was the chiken sandwich I ate half and sent half with Fergie. You should be around my bully when I feed her chiken breasts. Wowsie.
Well, Ferg has had quite the ordeal in the last couple of days, so many people and animals to meet and now the vet. A full going over so we can find out what is really going on with her. She is a gem though, a true sweet girl and if she has little time or lots, as long as it is quality, we are good.
Friday, the day we travelled was her D day. We bypassed that and its on to a new life. I just talked with ITA and Fergie was a little hesitant about her Aussie but..........I think the last couple of days have just been so much forher. Another few to settle in and she will be fine. I cant wait to hear about updates. This gal should be a lesson learned for her rescue organization. I appreciate there work and efforts but.................they abandoned this girl. She has had no medical attention other than her originial exam, no follow up or treatment and now that they have disbanded, she was left high and dry. They told me to simply take her in to be put to sleep when in fact, that was what the vet said to begin with. She still has so much to give, thankyou ITA for giving her a chance.

Poor Fergie, she went to the vets office straight after pick up. She got another mange shot and was treated for tapeworms. She was tested for Heart worms and was negative. Thank goodness. Her next stop after settleing in will be with a surgery consult. She needs to be spayed, her mammery tumors removed and her teeth done. I am a little worried as she has a heart murmur. She is doing better with my Aussie, mine just ignores her and I think that bothers Fergie. Fergie is very sweet and gentle and hopefully will have a long and happy life in Charleston.

Hooray for Fergie. She is a beautiful girl and sooo sweet. Thank you ITA for taking such a wonderful girl and getting her vetted. Hopefully she will have a long and wonderful life with you. It was an honor meeting her. She has been through so much that at least she will have a life in luxury. The rest of her days will be spent in peace.
She has a fur sister with whom I know she will get along in time. I can't imagine how stressful her last few days have been. Once she settles, I can only imagine how sweet she will become. She was incredibly docile and affectionate here. Wow, what a girl!

ITA I would not worry too much about the heart murmur. It may go away with relaxation and comfort or, well, you only have to look at Fergie to know someone was not kind to her. While I was saddened by the rescue who "saved" her, once I knew her, putting her down was not an option. You dont wait two months and then decide its time. It was time when she first saw the vet. Now, she deserves a quality life for whatever time she has left. To for once know kindness and security and the love of a constant family. I would have gladly given that to Fergie had my bully been a bit more cooperative. Sadly, that is an issue we continue to work on as I am not as strong about losing one of my pals as others are.
Once Fergie gets to know you, you will see just how sweet and kind she is. She loved to play with my border collie and the bassett hound. She was scared of them at first but she came around quickly enough.
Nothing could have made me happier than knowing Fergie will be loved. I keep looking for her and the kennel is empty. She left a big spot empty here.

We adore her already. She made it here in time for the Saturday dog wash party, so she has already been fluffed and puffed. She doesn't have a kennel here to sleep in, she gets a big fluffy dog bed in the bedroom with me. I want her close in case she has trouble or a reaction to all the drugs she has had today. She is standing next to me as I type this. She gets up and comes over every ten minutes or so as if checking to see if I am still here. I am hoping that we can at least remove the largest of the tumors, the one right between her hind legs, it really bothers her and I can tell she is uncomfortable with it. It is also a little weepy. It will have to go in order to spay her. I hope that will buy her more time. Do you know if she has had any of her shots?

I am moved to tears by what I am reading. Fergie so deserved this. You see now how I just couldnt let her be put down without at least some time being loved in a home. No shots, notta thing. You just know her owners did nothing and sadly, the rescue didnt either. I keep speaking ill of the rescue but I dont mean too. They are a newly formed group of two months who were simply unprepared for the overwhelming numbers in Summerville. They died very quickly and burnt out that fast. And Fergie got forgotten here.
If Fergie only had one week left, knowing she was in a home with someone who loves her, that will do for me. To be out of the storms, to be comfy in the heat, and to have someone to feast her adoring eyes onto, what more can a dog ask for. Guess it was me asking huh.
ITA, thankyou for giving this girl her opportunity to leave a footprint on someones heart. She left one here, I just couldnt give her all she deserved. She gives the softest kisses. Just wait till she really gets to know you LOL.
The day I brought Fergie to the city, I went to visit another placement with a Cother. how fantastic to see Crosby living in a house with a Steelers collar, a bed of his own, a mom and dad who love him and all bathed and clean. he was so happy to see me but he kept running back to his new mom to make sure she knew he loved her too. I had that guy for 6 months. And chocomare also took one who has wiggled her way into there hearts as well.
You cothers rock.

heheh Chocomare, only you saw her when she first got here LOL. She still looked rough when she went home to ITA but................she looked 100% better if you can imagine. She had hair again LOL
And I am so happy for all three of the kids. Now, last night, yup, someone managed to dump a terrier from a moving car. People didnt get the plate number $%$#%^$ but I finally caught Wiggles.
So, if anyone wants or needs another super wonderful, never cared for, abused, and then dumped little terrier thingy, Wiggles is looking for a new mommy now. She is off white with a black muzzle??????????????? She is very timid which is why we call her wiggles, when you go to pat her, she wiggles all over the ground but her tail just pounds with happiness.
Can someone please tell everyone that we are a horse rescue LOL

SKA,
I just can't imagine that your home is filling up with another doggie!
It seems that when one leaves, another arrives. That is soo strange. Did you tell anyone that you had a vacancy? You may need to post a sign saying, "kennels are full".
Wiggles sounds like a sweet bundle of joy. I wish her the best in finding another home. Miss Fergie was a delite. I know she is in heaven right now. She had the sweetest face. I almost substituted my rat for her. I can only imagine the surprise on ITA's face. That would have been fun. LOL.
I am glad she is in her own home. I can't believe that you have another. It is so sad that it never ends. I am surprised that she survived being dumped. How can anyone do that? I want to shoot them myself...darn bleepity bleeps!

Miss Fergie has fallen into the routine of a barn dog. She gets up and goes with me and my aussie and daughter to the first barn to teach. There she runs around and plays with the pack of barn dogs. They wallow in the pond and watch the lessons between wrestling matches. Then we head to the next barn so my daughter can ride her pony and we pick blueberries and muck stalls. She has a Corgie friend there. Fergie is even trying to jump up into the back of the wagon when it is time to head out. She met my resident yard cat, who quite promptly smacked her on the nose drawing blood. Pecking order sorted right out. Dinner is followed by two sound asleep dogs. I think she is happy.
My daughter is very protective of her. Worries when she gets out of site. We have surgery set up for next tuesday, decided to delay it a week to give her a great week in case the surgery doesn't go well... Her cancer looks to be pretty invasive, but we will try to buy her time.
Thank you all who made this gift of Fergie possible we love her and she loves us right back. I will take some photos of her in the next few days and post for all to enjoy.
