    Default Anyone wanna take bets???

My last mare looks like she'll probably foal in the next 24 to 48 hours. Anyone wanna take a bet as to whether or not it'll be another colt? <rolling eyes>.

I keep telling people to send them here for fillies!!! No bet.

Although I do think my maiden may give me a boy next year, the other had two colts before I got her and then two fillies - she is due for a colt, but not while she is drinking MY water!!!

Good luck ane happy, healthy foaling!!!
I gotta do-over and am doin it my way!!!

    Sending good filly thoughts!

Buy a blue halter, and order a Kinkos road sign that says it is a COLT. Order the Hercules name plate, and fill out all of the USEF, USDF and breed inspection forms for a colt.

Finally, as soon as the foal is born, don't check, just post here that you had another colt.

If that does not work, I don't know what will.

<ROTFL>...Okay, for those of you who spend days and days and days on foal watch, this mare has to be a record. Checked her this morning and figured she'd go within the next 24 to 48 hours. Checked her this evening at feeding time as when she starts changing, she starts changing really quick and sure enough things were progressing. So, I figured I'd be up regularly through the night. Of course that was because I'd been breeding mares with frozen semen the last few nights, so am feeling severely sleep deprived and as I was done with breeding, it was inevitable we just move right along to foal watch <rolling eyes>. I was sitting here literally posting this thread and I asked my son to take out the puppies and while he was out, would he kindly just take a peek at the mare? He is NOT a horse person, btw, and while he's capable of handling them, has absolutely no desire to do so. He comes in bemoaning just how "gross" horses are and how the mare is just disgusting. She's completely sweaty and covered in mud! I hit "send" on this thread and make a mad dash out to find the mare down and with two feet sticking out!

We finished up the foaling and I guess 1 in 50 foals a filly is pretty darn good ! Yup! I finally got my filly <smile>. The foal is by Don Principe and out of Mata Hari (Mannhattan x Idealiste/Ideal). Can't really tell a whole lot at this stage of the game, but she's got a star a snip and one hind white and of course, ovaries!! Woo hoo!!!!

Of course, I have absolutely NO filly names. What was the point? I didn't have a use for them anyway.

I get to go to bed and sleep now! Mare has passed her placenta, foal was just starting to nurse and it looks like all is right with the world. I swear, that's gotta be a record on foal watching/foaling/placenta/nursing!

    Off to bed!
