I knew the news would probably come today. I am so thrilled for Mark.

For me, with Teddy gone, this will be my saving grace, watching Mark Todd and Gandalf. This horse can jump the moon.

SWEET NZ team! I can't wait to wake up insanely early to watch 10 minutes of coverage. I wish Lucinda Green would commentate on the Olympics like she does on my WEG dvds. She's the best!

Good old Lord Killinghurst. Now there's an oddball ridden by an awesome rider.

What an exciting, entertaining team. Awesome to have Mark Todd and Andrew Nicolson together. And Lenamore is a real treat to watch--as incredible a jumper, looker, mover as Lord Killinghurst is NOT!

It's what I love the most about this sport: the variety of horses that can excell in it.

But I've never heard of those other two horses. And I'm blanking out on who it was that Heelan Tomkins rode before. Anyone remember?

    Was it Glengarrick?

Dang they have a strong team!!

So, it looks like the New Zealanders, Aussies, British and Germans are all looking really strong.

Some of France's riders don't look half bad either.

So, where does that leave us (the USA)?

It is revolting that the UK press announced the NZ eventing team a day before NZ did

They didn't list any alternates. However, I'm sure there are a few. All 5 of the riders listed above are on the team.
Remember, at the Olympics, it's 5 team members -- best 3 scores count.
At the WEG it's 4 team members (best 3 scores count) PLUS 2 additional individual riders.
No individuals at the Olympics -- all riders are on the team.

The UK didn't realease it before NZ... the Horse and Hound article is dated June 17... the NZ article is also dated June 17 (3pm) and we are 11 hours ahead...

The other 3 that were on the short list were Dan Joceyln, Annabel Wigley and Emily Butcher
