Default Yearly Filly/Colt Poll—Filly Year? Or Colt Year?

Ok, here it is. Did you have fillies or colts? Or filly or colt?

You're out of luck if you've had more than 4 ... plus, I want to know if you think it's going to be a filly year ... or a colt year!!!

Here's wishing the best to all of us—*healthy* foals!!!

I have one foal and one filly so that is what I checked. It wasn't one of the options but if it had been, I would have voted that I imagine it will work out to being close to 50/50 by the time all is said and done.

I have one on the ground (a filly) and have another due anytime. I have a feeling it is going to be a filly, too! Plus, two client mares due to foal anyday-but I think they will be colts.
I, too, would guess it will all even out in the end.

Ah, actually, last year I think it was a colt year. I'll go back and look it up. The year before I think it was definitely a FILLY year. I'll see if they're still available.

Oh I so agree 2007 was a colt year. Hoping to reverse that in '08!

Last year for us was a filly year: 4 fillies and 2 colts.

Wouldn't mind seeing the same this year!

Can't wait for my mares to foal.

3 fillies, 0 colts for us so far this year. I hope my last 2 are colts, but I doubt it.

I know the numbers are supposed to work out 50/50 over time but that's never been true for us. In six years of breeding, more than 2/3 of our foals have been fillies. If you guys have a secret for getting colts, I'd love to hear it.

Well, with 2 out of 17 on the ground at the research farm, we've had two fillies. We need as many colts as possible for a digestability study that is coming up in the summer/fall.....that pretty much guarantees that we'll have a filly year here!

Well, I wish every year was a filly year!!! but, this year the colt fairy came to see us. Just one foal, so by default, I'm saying it's a colt year. . . it's also been so cold this winter it just seems colt-y

Last year we had 5 fillies and 1 colt, the year before we had 3 fillies and 1 colt. This year from 4 due I think we will get 2 of each

So far our count is 4 fillies, 1 colt. We have one mare dripping milk as of this morning and three others coming up quickly after her. Then I think I have a break for a few days before the next group starts.

Would love to know the secret too!! Would love to have pony geldings instead of mares!!!
My odds are about that too.

I had one filly and one colt this year. Am expecting one more - probably a filly... as that would make my 2/3

We've added another filly since my last post, so now we're 4 and 0 for the year, with one last chance for a colt in May.

    Default 2007 filly year.

We had two foals in 2007, both fillies. Hoping for another this year, only one due for 2008.

Ok. Bumping this up ... they're comin' in fast and thick, so make sure we know if this is REALLY a fillly year or a *sigh* colt year.

Officially, it's a FILLY year so far (whoop whoop whoop!) 22 fillies v. 15 colts!!!

I usually have colt years. This year, however, I'm 2 for 2 fillies so far!! (Out of three but I think the last one will be a colt)

I figured that since Beste Gold has had EIGHT fillies so far this year and NO colts... it is the year of the filly for us...
