Speaking of little girls and ponies, I helped a friend with one of her students at a show a couple of years ago, and took this photo as the girl was riding around between classes. They had matching lavender ribbon on the pony's tail and the little girl's pigtails!
This first one was actually taken by a friend...this version has been slightly photoshopped - the light glinting on the water has been enhanced I think. Even taking away the shading I still love it...her quiet peaceful expression, a kind gentle broodmare!
I am glad to see this thread has come back. It is a lot of fun the candids. I was recently in New York at the HITS show and I saved this series. Now normally I would consider it very bad taste to show a dramatic crash series but this one you have to admit has a lot going on and other than a bit of a bruised ego perhaps, noone was hurt through the process... and for lack of a better term...let's just call this horse the "energizer bunny". This was not my primary fence on course because it was back lit and early in the day. When the rider approached the fence, there was some miscommunication and well he just never got a good start coming through this in and out. The series as it played out was rather unusual and I am going to share it with you. Hopefully the rider will also find it amusing if she sees the series. I was not prepared for the series and it may be a little soft as I was mainly focused for the first fence. However, I just kept shooting and things got more and more bizarre.
