According to nolte's profile, she is a riding instructor herself, and has been riding for seven whole years
get away with you--
op- they dont do martigale things in dressage
its all about working the horse-- as in movements-- basic skills
if you an instructor then start from handling from the ground then work up to be ridden
and start everything in a walk-- master the walk -- then move up to trot
the walk is the 1st pace of dressage-- and has various walking stlyes for a test
and if you look i have explained how to to a half halt stride recently
and if you learning or teaching how to half halt stride you start of in walk,
if you learning /teaching leg yeilds its done in a walk
same to with schoulder ins , and half passes, travers, reverse travers, renvers etc
then its all starts in a walk
so slow down -- and walk and learn the difference between free walk active walk and medium walk extented walk
sounds to me you asking to much of what you dont know or cant do so horse hasnt got a clue and is totally confused by you so horse has no option but to advade or run away a he screamming help -- and grabbing hold of the bit nothing to do with matigales
what you need to do is take of the extra equipment-- ditich the spurs if you have them and the whip bring him back into the school
and ride with your arse-- be light in the leg and soft in the hand
and work him from butt to poll sohis hinds are underneath him and he becomes balanced
and no circles - do it in a straight lines
get the horse going forwards in astraight line and go large and use the width and the lenght of the school dont do circles until horse has learnt to go striaght first
I've done it again - stayed away from COTH a bit too long.
What's this about no moderators? And if there are now none, is 'Moderator 1' a legitimate?
There are two mods now. Mod 1 and Mod 2 as well as " Admin". Mod 1 came to this thread due to the reporting of a post so they are active. I just find it strange that the one that stated there were no mods reported a post to one?
To the OP I suggest any of the well respected books is a good place to start including Sally Swift's.
The old mods also edited posts if things against the rules were in them...such as too much info on a sales horse (badly concealed advertising) or personal info on someone or info on someone doing something illegal without there being any journalistic back up.
None of the mods have done editing of posts to try to put words into other people's mouths. Not on this BB anyways...some BB's the mods will edit someone's post and change the wording to make them lok like an even bigger fool than they were being in their own post, it's quite hilarious.
You jump in the saddle,
Hold onto the bridle!
Jump in the line!
I am guessing he OP's first post has been modified as i have no clue what all is going on here.
what i can say is that if you feel snarked here its because we all love horses ALOT, and are passionate about every horse getting the very best instruction on how to be the best. If someone snarks at me here it's one of two things ALWAYS (i dont care who you are posting) either
a. my post was misinterpreted because this is print, you cannot hear the person or see them, so you dont get the full picture of what they are trying to convey
b. i have done something with my horse, or not done something, that can be improved upon.
if you want flowers and daisys, see a florist, but the horse will just smell better, that's it. People here are snarky because they care about your horse, and they are trying to get their voice heard. sometimes the truth hurts, yes the delivery can be improved upon... but this is the internet after all....
when i do ask my horse to collect and come from his hind end
I'm sorry, but it is unlikely that you have the skill to do this, in addition to "getting him on the bit" in your original post, if you are unable to get the horse to listen to you. You might THINK that is what is happening, but I doubt it.
Since the OP has removed the original question and the thread has become focused primarily on the discussion of moderators not horses, we're going to close it.
In answer to some of the moderation questions posed: Yes, the mods do (and did) have the ability to alter the content of any post. Any time a change is made, a notation will be left at the bottom of the post with the time of the edit and a reason for it, same as if you'd made an edit yourself. As stated previously, we use this feature to remove advertising content, inappropriate language, personal attacks, etc. from posts in order to preserve the other content they contain (edit to remove some information vs. deleting the whole thing).
We understand any concern that this feature could be used inappropriately in the wrong hands, but it's a necessary tool to keep the boards viable, the use of which is described in the user agreement, and not a responsibility that is taken lightly or used flippantly.
