Default Christmas is coming: Presents or Tipping?

Every year I face the big dilemma...what to get our wonderful grooms for Christmas. I think they could always use an extra-big tip, but that seems so impersonal. Anyone have any great gift ideas for grooms?

While it might be impersonal, most grooms would rather get the money.

    Thumbs up

Always tip Cindeye, but have gotten to giving a huge turkey to them as well. Figure what they don't have to buy is more money in their pockets. Plus our guys still work on the Holidays. So we try and make it very nice for them.

Oh dear..I am so strapped this year I can barely afford catnip for the BARN CATS. Let alone the poor grooms!

We tip pretty well at Christmas, and last year we gave them a case of Corona and a bottle of good Tequila as well.

Embroidered towels with their names on them. In the barns colors
Or perhaps calling cards, if they've family in a different country
Or get a big box and fill it with those shipping peanuts and money. That way they get both, present and tip!

You know, after the Welly World fiasco, poor Peaches ended up rubbing on some horses for us. I'm pretty sure he'll appreciate a cash tip more than anything right now.

Our head groom's car has been in the shop, so for Thanksgiving, we all kinda got together to help him out. Did it quietly. His wife is very nice, and has a small house cleaning business on the side. Good grooms are very hard to come by. So what ever anyone does to help them out, is great. Sometimes people forget.

You got that right, and I wouldn't want to give him a thong!

How about an INS agent detector or a plastic sealed green card?

That was a really nice thing to do. Our groom's car has been sitting in the stable yard for weeks waiting to be repaired...You've made me feel guilty and I think we'll help him out in the same way!!

I usually do both. Give them something small and personal and a check.

I'm sorry, but was that supposed to be funny?

    Highly OFFENSIVE.

Amber M, I really don't think the post was meant to offend. There were quite a few shows last year where an INS detector would have been the best possession a man could have. Better even then a dog.

Oh dear, was it the "Peaches in a thong bit that offended you? Yes, I can understand that.

Oh Amber M, lighten up. It is what it is!

On a serious note, a car is a great idea. I have friend's that did that last year for their head groom. Come to think of it, a thong would have been great for him too!
