I also thought it was super sweet the way he slapped Liza's thigh as he was walking out. He wasn't just a proud trainer; he was truly a proud dad in that moment.
They've never had to walk over a bridge or open a gate.
Yes, I noticed that too. Obviously very scopey and athletic horses in their own right, but the high options were a reach for some of them. For Brunello, well, this photo that COTH took says it all:...
I watched it on a combo of Safari, Chrome, and Firefox, so there. :P
Kenyarider, I think what people are trying to get across is that the feed DID work just fine.
Wow, three years in a row! No one can fault the pair's consistency. His jump over the one massive oxer was eye-popping.
I loved Megan Young's round.
No, that's not what I said.
The Challenge final is horses that were not in the top 20 yesterday. They started with a new slate today. See EllenAspen's link above for a breakdown.
The Challenge Final is for horses that didn't quality for the night class.
Scott hasn't done derby finals since the little temper tantrum he threw over the jumbotron in, what, 2013? As nice of a ride as he is, he's not the bravest and I think has cutback doing the derbies...
At first, my tongue wasn't firmly in cheek when I read your post.
And I was like this:
Then I re-read it. And now I'm like this: :D
See, that's exactly why he does have the "wow" factor for me! Because he isn't that textbook "pretty" horse.
So many of them look like oversized dairy cows now, so for a plain chestnut to walk in...
I enjoyed reading this thoughtful and articulate counter-point as well: http://www.themarysue.com/trigger-warnings-arent-coddling/
Yes, I'm such a miserable person. I love that old Internet chestnut! ;) I was the one who initially posted my enthusiasm for the pair.
Have you ever tried to update a record with USEF? It's a major pain in the ass. If you care so much, you should contact Liza and Jack and offer to do it! I'm sure they'd love that.
COTHers can always find something to bitch about.
Anyway, last year, some sleuths deduced Brunello's pedigree: http://www.sporthorse-data.com/d?i=10958252&z=24nkmd
And from Liza herself:...
They get new handy round scores, but the scores are combined for overall placings.
Brunello's effort over the final oxer... I just adore that horse. I say I'd love to ride him, but I truly don't think anyone could ever get as much out of him as Liza does.
Too early to call...
I thought the same thing about Peter... That could've been a really ugly moment at the post-and-rails and he just sat up and let the reins slip through his fingers. We are so, so lucky that he is...
Sounds like yours might be. His trip was about 5 minutes before my post?
Wasn't watching the last trip too closely, but anyone see anything that would explain the scoring discrepancy? Two 68s and an 85?
(Also, Mindful's trip was excellent.)
I don't think snarking on a 17-year-old kid is really relevant for this topic. Tori is a showman and is tremendously polite.
Hehe, I have the same set up: an iMac and a Bloomberg terminal. I usually have whatever show on a small window in the corner of my terminal; no one seems to mind!
I find your naiveté refreshing, but I wish that you could take a look in the medicine boxes of ANY trainer winning at any of the big shows.
Yep, and father Chris Iwasaki. (All the Iwasaki & Reilly horses usually always have "small" in the name... Small Affair, Small Celebration, etc.)
Congrats on your nomination!
I just got my first batch of truly well-fitting bras—yippee! (Just went on an Amazon spree to try some different bands and styles.)
My favorite is the Le Mystere...
