I'd find a nice bit of 24" culvert pipe (or several smaller ones) and make a jump out of that (secured properly)
Tire jump - you have that.
Ditch - two half rounds of telephone pole with a...

Agreed. I'd much rather keep my horses out 24/7 if you're in an area of the country that allow sit - they stay fitter and calmer, are less prone to ulcers and colic etc.

Yes unfortunately The Yard is too far, and Branscomb too $$$... :nonchalance:

I'm interested in places closer to SF - up to an hour away, preferably on the peninsula? I have a yearling and need large pastures, great fencing, and lots of buddies to play with as well as board...

My new guy is 25% TB if you run the numbers far back enough... though I'm assuming that doesn't count as none of it is in the previous 2 generations? Still, several Negro babies are going Advanced so...

Great idea! I'll start scouring craigslist :)

Yeah there were horses next to that pond for many years and I don't know what the effect of no horses has been the last 3-4. There is a good sized berm between the paddock and the pond which may help...

There's an area at my boarding barn that the BO and BM are talking about fencing off into a 2 acre paddock where I could put my yearling (currently safe at the breeder's)
Unfortunately it's full...

Agree with deltawave - my vet wouldn't let me waste my money on B12 shots.
He did however give shots of fluphenazine to calm the old guy - it helped a little. Not nearly as much as dimagnesium...

I have a skinny old guy who I struggled and struggled to put weight on and tried all the methods you did. He just spent 5 months on stall rest for an injury and after the month long settling in...

How do they fit - round or long oval?

I keep 4 picnic ice mats in a cooler with some extra ice packs to keep things chilled, in the shade of my trailer/truck - not inside the truck or in the sun.
After jumping the horse get hosed off...

He's not my attorney and he's selling his services in an unrelated field. If he won a case regarding helmets one can say a certain amount of research went into it based on the payout. But I am not...

I spoke with an attorney recently about a real estate issue, and in learning I rode horses he mentioned to me a case from 2 years ago where his client was wearing an IRH and fell, causing severe...

well then, I'd have taken Satwa Tune anyway! :D

Satwa Tune
This is my pick (I've said this before.) Standing funny on the hinds in the first photo, aside from that, gorgeous, French bred and it shows. Xray the fronts from the knee down.

Just what the title says: in your view what sort of things make an eventer a pro vs an ammy ride?
In dressage?
In stadium?
On xc?
In general?

I have to say Hill Brush Co Salmon brand brushes are the best. I have a 12 year old horsehair body brush that I recently sanded and re varnished and it's good as new - really! You can get them in the...

What she said.
I had a saddler come fix one of my saddles that has bars too far forward by slipping a 1" long section of hose* over each bar, then replacing the stirrups. 1" further back at the...

This. Stop feeding your little porker high calorie foods - she doesn't need them, obviously!
And another obvious would be more exercise - is that possible?
Anyway if you think having a hard...

As a quick fix my saddle fitter slid a 1" section on plastic hose on my stirrup bars (they're quite snugly fitted), then replaced the stirrups, effectively making the bars 1" further back. Made a...

Made me a bit seasick, but a different perspective than the usual helmet cams!

Thanks everyone - excellent questions! Adding them to my list.

A horse dentist who can do 22 horses a day?! Ours does 8 a day - each one takes about an hour between sedation, giving them breaks and so on.

Excellent! Well try the MagRestore + Focus for at least a week before the Fluphenazine so you know which one is working - no need for both, perhaps.
Good luck!
