I think you're a beautiful rider, and your arena! I am green with envy.
Unprecedented rains this year resulted in unprecedented bugs and bug bites, so I spent some time thinking about this too.
I have heard many good reports about the Summer Whinnies, but I didn't try...
Overgrazing is not a function of how many horses per acre. Overgrazing is a function of how long the horses stay on the grass after they have bitten the leaves (blades) off.
I just wrote a blog...
I laughed. :)
I had plaited reins years ago (back in the 70s), and they were so special. Very flexible. Felt lovely in my hands. I have no idea what became of them.
What's wrong with it? Is it a weed or a grass? Do horses eat it or not? I'm always interested in a hardy, hardy grass that my chubby horses won't eat with absolute relish.
Here's an article about electrolytes that might help you.
And here's one more on salt.
Wouldn't grass and hay be considered a whole food? If so, mine are on a whole food diet right now. I did have my forage analyzed and a mineral custom balanced by a nutritionist for my horse. I...
I vote no. In observing my horses eat, they need to push their nose into the net to get the hay to stick out where they can grab it. They won't be able to do this with a solid rack between them and...
It'll change the fact that WE DON'T KNOW!!! :)
This is a great thread. Lots of chuckles.
Oh wow. I am so jealous. Beautiful!
MistyBlue. You are Fjantastic!
Saultgirl, if you would like a daily Fjord fix, come like my horse's FB page. :)
Go to a dermatologist. There is a steroid shampoo you can get (RX). Meanwhile, you can go to Walmart and get a medicated shampoo. There are several, and it's a random guess which one will work for...

I bought my horse sight unseen, but I did all possible due diligence. I asked for specific videos, which the buyer sent me. I got conformation critiques from people knowledgeable in the breed. I...
I don't think oats is the best choice for most horses anyway.
I would love to have those.
Thank you for this thread. Recipe duly noted. I'll buy ingredients this weekend!
It's a hummingmule.
I feed watermelon (mostly rinds) in a muck bucket so the juice isn't wasted, and they don't end up eating a lot of dirt.
Horses and heat
Thank you. Yes, I know I can always right click and do it that way; but I like to retain the link to the original if at all possible so the owner can tell where it was shared. I still can't get it...
My neighbor has more than half of her horse pasture under water right now. It has been under water for weeks, and it will be under water for weeks to come. She literally has had to move horses off...
Tracy, I really want to share that first picture on Life with Oden, but I can't get it to share. Can you set it to public? Do you mind?
When I sit down at COTH at the end of a day, I want to hear the nutty, horsey stories. So everyone with barn craziness, feel free to post away!
