I have a large number of stereotypies. As a foal, I weaved and cribbed. Now I just bite my hooves and grind my teeth.

I haven't read the entire thread, but I would not have a problem riding with a racist trainer. You don't have to like the person to learn something from them, and his racism is highly unlikely ever...

I'd like to see pics of him without the saddle on. Those look like some pretty substantial pads, and I wonder what they're hiding. Otherwise, if he is sound and sane and jumps a little, $850 seems...

I've worked in restaurants. Believe me, the potential harm from putting a carton of eggs on a shelf above boxes of meat or from a patron eating a chef's hair is fairly minor compared to smearing...

Actually, I was primarily thinking about hunter equitation. I don't know enough about TWH equitation to comment. But shouldn't a position that keeps your aids effective be the ultimate goal?
-
That's an innapropriate analogy. Storing eggs on a shelf above meat is not quite the same thing as intentionally causing pain to a living creature.
-
Wouldn't that suggest that it is the equitation ideal that is wrong, not the trainers?
-
That you heard it even 15 years ago is astonishing.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but slc2 is spot on.
Whether you want to deal with this or not is up to you. You're under no obligation to take her just because she is disabled, as another...

Absolutely. Why can so few people accept that brains have biology just the way that spleens, or ears, or gallbladders do? Some brains just plain don't work right, no matter what has happened to...

I know this would be a very nice idea if the world worked the way we wanted it to, but believe, me, no doctor is going to ask for a 72 hour hold unless the patient is in IMMINENT danger of harming...

Can't find the update.
But I'm curious to know what happened.

Anna,
(My name is also Anna, by the way). I can really understand how you could be intimidated by such a big horse. I've been working with horses all of my life, and, when it came time to look...

Do you want to be a therapy rider instructor? Frankly, that is what this girl needs. I have a severely autistic and retarded daughter, and I recognize that this girl needs something that a regular...

That's a great site. Thanks for posting it!

Does anyone know of a Canadian chicken board? American chicken boards that I've found are great, but the chicken world in Canada seems to be much smaller and harder to find.
-
I'm trying REALLY hard to picture this. What does he look like?
One light kick cured our dog of being rowdy when the horses are around, but he hasn't quite caught on to the idea that the back end...

You're right, I should have said anti-horse-slaughter people, not just anti-slaughter people.
-
Do you have a hunt club nearby, 3horsemom?
They'll often kill horses to feed to the hounds, and do so without the long trailer ride and captive bolt that most anti-slaughter people object to.

Does he climb trees, ponygirl?

Do Rotties drool in the same way that Mastiffs do?
A friend of mine is a breeder of Mastiffs, and the dogs that she has are lovely--not very friendly to strangers, but not at all agressive either....

I have a 75 pound "goldendoodle." He's the best dog I've ever had. Great with the horses, great with our extremely disabled daughter, great with the cats, and very restrained with the chickens.

Just a light-hearted comment, Bluey. I don't have the guts to wade in seriously on a slaughter discussion. ;)
I eat grocery store meat and in the skankiest restaurants in Chinatown, and I figure...

And if you've worked in the back of the house in a restaurant you know that meat picked up from the slaughter house floor is just the beginning...
