Sidney's Candy's win today in the Santa Anita Derby makes me think it might be time to bring this topic back.
This is the best outcome, as conflicted as I was. Zenyatta is not tarnished by RA having better met the criteria for HOTY.
Thank you, Laurie!!
No streaming video anywhere? SIGH. What is the point of this internet thing, anyhow?
Bit of an update in BH - yes, they are hoping to see some hoof growth when he is due for reshoeing in two weeks. Growth will be critical.
I hate laminitis.
I think ReRun plans to sell 2 Zenyatta Moneighs along with 2 by Life is Sweet, but I sure wish I knew what time the paintings will be displayed. I've been fatiguing my mouse since 7am this morning.
First I've seen of this ominous-looking news. Maybe I've missed the related stories because I've been distracted by all the tumult here in Maryland?
Here's ReRun's press release, hot off the presses:

According to "Moneigh Mary":

Zenyatta the munificent is hard at work on her Moneighs and other charitable contributions.
I kept track.
The final bids shown on eBay might have been eclipsed by additional bidding that didn't show, but I noted the bids with 1" remaining on each painting.
Bwana Charlie, $150.00...
Mine's in the mail, too. ReRun does a fabulous job of service and presentation. In the past, they have included photos of the horse painting the Moneigh along with the painting, itself. First class...
Oh, you got that mindboggling hoofprint, then! Nifty.
Okay, everybody partner up with a banker. ReRun does have another Zenyatta Moneigh, and they will be auctioning it just before the Eclipse...
Congrats! PP went for $480.00. Highest bid was for the Midnight Lute - $960.00.
And I had the winning bid on the Funny Cide!
The paintings sell today, starting at 4:00 pm (EDT). There are still some surprising bargains and also some surprising bigtime bids. It's fun to see which horses have enduring fan bases.
It's worth noting that the paintings by Ruhlmann (not offered by ReRun) and Kona Gold are also posthumous works.
Also, Zenyatta had a painting in the previous ReRun eBay auction, last spring. My...
I know y'all are just horsing around ( ), but rest assured that LR made the painting before his very untimely death.
The bids on paintings by star horses (especially posthumous work by...
I cannot stop admiring the shape of Presious Passion's foot!
If anybody has ever wanted to own a Moneigh, it looks like these might go as big bargains, compared to past prices. I'm not sure what...
ReRun has 40 Moneighs®, on eBay for their annual holiday auction, including ones by Rags to Riches, Cigar, Medaglia d'Oro, Empire Maker, Lawyer Ron, Kona Gold, and The Green Monkey.
Aqueduct, it is! :D
Ten minutes of sheer fun on this topic and some others . . . .
(There's also post-race video shot by John Shirreffs on youtube.)
Here are two published summaries of the battle between Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta for HOTY: one from the AP and the other from ESPN.
I'm sure there will be more . . .
Here's the clip of her work.
Oh, ouch. I'm just noticing that the COTH forums will be offline 4-6 November. It's going to be a lonely run-up and then a lonely day at the races . . . . :(
Impressive factoid from Steve Haskin, who notes that RA has defeated 8 derby winners this year - an unheard of feat.
