Hunters can do grey, yes. Eq, probably not. Jumpers, yes. Everyone usually wears tan or beige breeches. Once in awhile, if a jumper class allows informal dress, you'll see people in a polo with grey...

I groomed for a woman who had ASBs one summer and she had a clear, mint gel that she squirted on her horses' bits before riding. She kept it in one of those bottles you use for hair dye or...

Apologies in advance if you already know this, but you have to be a member of 4H and PC to compete in their shows. PC has it's own dress code rules that differ a bit from the expectations at rated...

Yup, pinching with your knees and/or thighs will make it very difficult. There's a exercise where, as you walk around, totally lift your legs off the saddle. Find your balance in the center of the...

I would imagine it's easier, and goes over better with the trainers, if they teach two different disciplines, such as hunters and dressage. That way they don't see each other as competition.

Perhaps our (long legged riders) best bet would be to look at the height of the Spanish tops? A nice high side could cover up the fact that the boots are a hair short overall, right?

Not to get too off topic... but are their any off the rack boots, <$350, that are 1/2-1 inch taller than Tredsteps? I have a tall pair of Donatellos and feel like they could be a hair taller.

I would be concerned about whether or not a child that young possesses the motor skills and body control to ride semi-independently, let alone stay on if the pony should even stumble or stop...

Maybe think about allowing more of your seat to touch the saddle when you sit. I'm not sure what you can do to feel like you aren't getting pushed up so high... I would imagine that would go away...

That could possibly work for me in the winter, but no way in the summer. My hair is so soaked and mashed down that I'd need to completely dry it and use a flat iron to get it back to normal....

Can I just say, I am so envious of the people who can go from the barn to other activities where they have to look nice, like work. I am such a head sweater there is no possible way I could ride...

This is what I was getting at. It sounds like any show can call a class a ‘Grand Prix’, just not a National Standard Grand Prix. Atleast with dressage a GP test is a GP test. You can’t do a lower...

Not to get off track, but now I'm wondering... does the USEF and/or FEI have a definition of what Grand Prix height is at a recognized show?

Anyone besides me still use Stainstick? If I get anything on light colored clothing I go home and coat it in Stainstick before washing. It helps keep the stain loose and easy to remove if you can't...

Can anyone offer a comparison of IEA and Pony Club? Many PCs don't require riders to have their own horses either. And you have the benefit of not aging out at 18. I know PC recently added hunters to...

You may see black tack on jumpers, but hunters and jumpers are not the same thing. Among other things, hunters have a more specific dress code, as you're learning.

He was about 6'4 riding a horse that was less than 16hh from what I've heard. That's like an adult blasting around on a tricycle. Nothing good could happen if something went slighty awry.
