Found something indicating Cadence Ultra is 1750 cal/lb compared to Ultium 1800 cal/lb. Also like the high fiber...we'll see how it goes.

True Colors--y'all must have tough mosquitos if Mosquito Halt doesn't work! I used it in south Florida and it worked very well there...
My two cents--as much turnout as possible is of course...

Thanks for input...I feed Buckeye Gro N Win to two of my horses and am looking into Cadence Ultra to replace Ultium for the third.
-
Is Buckeye a fixed formula feed? How many calories in Cadence Ultra per pound?
Thanks!

The Today show piece highlighted 82 horses rescued and adopted out...what happened to the other 90-plus???

A friend posted about this on Facebook; am surprised so few on CotH are commenting on this sad event.
I have every one of his novels and periodically re-read them all in published order in a DF...

Oh good that sounds promising...will get the type you suggest altho' not too worried about them tipping it over.

It seems mostly to apply to propane heaters.
I know the quartz heaters heat OBJECTS, not the air. I didn't know if a smaller one would, over time, heat the objects so much as to cause a risk.

Without going into all the whys and wherefores, I am about to buy a quartz patio heater to keep my outdoor/barn cats warm on the colder nights. Other solutions are not practicable--trust me...

Duraflex--but I've never been in an extremely cold climate.
Edited to add: they do hold up to frozen water no problem though!

Body under the blanket. Base of ears, tips of ears.

Condolences, 2dogs, I am so very sorry for your loss.

Bald eagles are just amazing birds!!
Saw one swooping around over my paddocks trying to catch one of a group of visiting cattle egrets. After several very close calls, the cattle egret selected...

I sit down with my 5 outdoor/barn cats three times a day. I measure out 5 dishes of food and they all come and chow down. Bowls are brought in aft er each feeding.
I used to leave out food on the...

Do they REALLY stay comfortable for the entire range? No sweat, no cold? Because, boy, that would sure solve a lot of problems for me and save time swapping out blankies!
I am about to call...

I prefer dutch or half-doors to sliders but with a caveat. I have a horse who kicked out over a metal-edged half-door and hung a hind leg over it. Resulting injury not good at all.
I have yoke...

I haven't had the problems with sweet feed that some of the others have mentioned.
However, I DO have a hard-keeper, a 25yo TB stallion. He's also QUITE picky.
I have tried a number of...

No, I mean what is called the "arm" of the horse, just above the elbow. That's where the fluid is.
I'm just thinking they all got a mouthful of something in the paddock or hay and hoping it's a...

Just got in from night check--noticed fluid accumulation (at least that's what it looks like) settled around both "arms" on my 22yo retired TB gelding. I was a distracted today but I think this has...

To add--try to move during the early fall if you can. Less temperature change to adapt to, and then it will just not get cold :D. Plan on clipping, possibly even in the summer.
Some of them adapt...

Yes, green grass all year. Hay is (or used to be) readily available but unless you are from California, you will be unpleasantly surprised at the price.
The above poster is correct, generally...

I agree, and can't remember the source or context so will just stop fretting; especially since am looking at 3 happy healthy horses in stalls made of PT pine
Thanks again!

Thanks, Tom King! I guess I always thought galvanizing was zinc plus something else. I don't know which type these gates are--will find out for the future.
I have a memory that someone told me...

I am replacing powder-coated yoke screens that were just adequate, but within budget when I built, and yes, they are already rusting. Rustoleum would cure that but they don't work for me for other...
